How fucking stupid do you have to be to stand for R Senator?

Jim Lamon is standing for Arizona Senator against Mark Kelly (D) and has issued a Super Bowl ad. Luckily for most of us we won't see it unless we live in Arizona. In it he dresses up as a sheriff and shoots at actors dressed as Biden, Pelosi and Kelly and drives them out of town.

Mark Kelly is husband of Gabby Giffords (yes, that Gabby Giffords) and is a retired astronaut and Navy pilot having flown combat missions in Desert Storm etc.

I get that Lamon is a conservative. I get that he does not like whatever Pelosi and Biden have accomplished. So far so normal. It's a legitimate (although wrong IMO) point of view. But to dress up as a cowboy/Wild West sheriff complete with six-gun just shows a total lack of neurons which ought to be immediately disqualifying.

It's not just senators.  As further proof that 'R' must stand for 'retarded', I give you Craig Shubert, the Republican mayor of Hudson, Ohio (described as 'an upscale community outside of Cleveland') speaking at a hearing to permit ice fishing on a small lake within the jurisdiction of that city...



He later released a statement to WJW-TV in Cleveland saying his comment about ice shanties and prostitution stemmed from his experience as a television news reporter covering law enforcement agencies that have arrested people for prostitution in shanties.  Never mind that people have been using motel and hotel rooms for prostitution for decades.

Now if he'd been trying to protect his community's reputation (and desirability and, I suspect, high property values) by painting ice shanties as a winter-time version of the tent cities that the homeless riff-raff from Cleveland proper might erect on the lake to use as a temporary hovel, that I could maybe understand.  But this?  Just shaking my head....
