Indeed it was, Bill. I figured out it must be Boule but only had one go left for 2 words. Went for the sure-fire one, just in case I had gone mental.
But in addition to a French game, a meaning that we only use in English if referring to the French game, it's also a kind of bread. The word is used in USian and English recipes and among those beknighted souls who love to "do their own" for hours on end, talk about it for hours on bell-end, instead of just picking up a loaf of Mother's Pride in two seconds at Walmart.
Would we really say that "souffle" is a loan-word? Well, I suppose it is, but we've been housing it, taking it for walks and to the vet for so long that it's really an English word now, isn't it? "Camembert" - a French word but far more congenial in English than "that moist, soft, creamy, surface-ripened cow's milk cheese" when we visit the fromage shop to argue with Michael Palin.
