Imagine, a teacher providing her students with a means to read books. Sounds like a Communist, burn her at the stake.For those who haven't been following the Summer Boismier story here in Norman, OK, she was an English teacher at Norman High that was forced to resign for sharing a QR code for students to access digital books for free from the Brooklyn Public Library.
Oklahoma's Secretary of Education has decided that causing her to lose her job isn't enough, and he's now pushing to have her teaching license revoked to keep her from any future employment in her field of study.
Summer didn't give any specific books to students or assign any controversial books. She merely provided access, and, for that, she is about to be censured by the state. It's effectively a digital book burning and a witch hunt to punish any who step outside of the state's cultural hegemony.

Every day when I wake up, I thank myself for moving back to Massachusetts. Being here during this fight with fascism is so much better than being where I was surrounded by right wing extremist ignorance. I feel sorry for all the right thinking people stuck in states run by MAGAts.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
