Seriously?! It’s down to ~$3.50 here.

I filled up my car on Friday at $3.06/gal. Cost me 32 bucks (I had maybe a gallon or two left in the tank.)

Omitting the members only places like Sam's and Costco, it's $3.30 to $3.40 a gallon regular unleaded around here. For reasons I can't fathom, it's around $0.25 to $0.30 a gallon cheaper in Lexington which is about 75 miles east of Louisville.

Last I filled up it was over $50 (which due to working from home isn’t often)
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Enjoy it? Hell, I demand it! I'm not getting out in the rain/sleet/snow/heat just to put gasoline in a goddam car.

If and when I leave NJ I'm getting rid of my car and will never own one again.

Personally, I'd be more than willing to give that full service up; there's nothing all that good about waiting for the one attendant servicing 12 pumps to get to me. When I travel elsewhere, I'm in and out in under 5 minutes; with full service, I'm lucky if the attendant even gets to me within that time.

As for fuel prices, I am out in northern California, and fiel prices range between $6.30 and $7.50 a gallon, depending where you are.

Why twice the price or more in California? That’s not all CA taxes?

California's gas tax is a little over 50 cents per gallon. The current excuse for the higher price is that some refineries are closed for maintenance which means less gas produced and the demand remains the same as always. So, they charge a lot more and we buy it anyway.

Although Chevron is $7.20/gallon for regular nearby, other brands of gasoline are selling for about $6.59/gallon - still way too much. Once you get away from the San Francisco area the price is closer to $5.50/gallon right now. No matter what, I'd be surprised if I ever see the price drop below $5.00/gallon here.

In the meantime the California Air Resources Board approved a rule requiring 100 percent of new car sales in California to be zero-emission vehicles by 2035. I guess that's going to solve our gasoline problem. It doesn't matter that we seem to be having problems producing enough electricity for our current population.

Zero-emission vehicles?  We've already got them, at least in the urban environment.

They're called bicycles.

Yes, I suppose I could agree with you ... but then we'd both be wrong, wouldn't we?

You've never ridden six feet behind me on a bike, BB. I guarantee you there are emissions.

Regular gasoline has slowly crept up to around $5.79/gallon after going below $5.00/gallon here again. Diesel is over $6.00/gallon at some stations.

Has the price gone up in your state?

Since my last hospice client died in mid February, I have only filled my gas tank four times. Regular unleaded has gone up from 2.99 in March to 3.59 in August.
