Re: SPOILER ALERT!
Did Puccini or Verdi write any operas without a final death scene? I am really asking, I like some operas, but I am very ignorant about most of it.
I am surprised that the state governments of Florida and Texas allow 'Madame Butterfly' be performed. On the other hand, if it is in Italian how would they know just how un-American it is?

Re: SPOILER ALERT!
If I recall correctly, Verdi wrote a few comic operas--Falstaff come to mind as one i saw and I think no one died. Not sure about Puccini. But the tragic operas are what packs them in.

Re: SPOILER ALERT!
Puccini wrote Gianni Schicchi, which starts with a death scene, so I guess that counts?Burning Petard wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 4:36 pmDid Puccini or Verdi write any operas without a final death scene?
