I just love how everyone has to fit into little boxes in the world of Lib; either conservative or liberal, both boxes containing people who clearly agreed with each other on everything. Sure.

FWIW, one of the most politically conservative people I have ever known (other than my parents) was a Vietnam veteran who detested the war after he returned. He participated in demonstrations against it and on at least two occasions burned an American flag to express his disgust with those policies. He also supported the Vietnam people and said the VC would have treated people much better than Diem or Thieu did, so I wouldn't doubt if he ever waved a VC or NVA flag to express his discontent with US policy. While he didn't want to vote for Nixon because of his pro war stance, he pretty much embraced every other conservative movement, from opposing the civil rights acts and medicare to opposing the Russians and Chinese. But I guess Lib would class him as a liberal because he burned/waved a flag. Must be nice to be so damn sure of everyone and everythingeverything and to reduce people to neat little boxes.

Racism is the belief that some races are inferior and don't deserve to be treated fairly. An individual who hates another individual because of his race is a racist. I don't believe there are inferior races. And I think everyone deserves fair treatment even Donald Trump. First of all, all those criteria are subjective; second of all, each society will provide more and less safety/freedom depending on the circumstances--by way of example, just ask someone wanting an abortion in any number of states that pretty much ban it and compare it to other societies where abortion is free and legal. Which society provides its people with less/more freedom? there are many other examples; not to mention that safety and freedom often run counter to each other--you have to balance them, and where that balance is set is also subjective. It's a pretty silly definition of an "inferior culture".

Bullshit, if some countries were not Inferior to others there wouldn't be large numbers of people desperate to get out of some countries in order to reach others. I think it is you just don't like the words superior and inferior, but they are facts. Countries as well as Individuals are not all equal and that's just the way it is. Just because a country or an individual has a disability doesn't mean you sit on your ass and whine and blame other people; you keep pushing forward and trying to do better.

The Japanese at one time had a technologically inferior culture, but after the humiliation of the Americans forcing their way into their ports they decided to change. They studied the West and emulated it and in about two generations they were equivalent to Western countries in technology. What's the Japanese did almost any country could do, they just have to be determined and establish the right conditions.

You forget the easiest ways of taking giant steps when it comes to technology, which is by either by buying it, stealing it, or 'reverse-engineering' it — which is a fancy term for 'copying somebody else's work'.

The TU-4 was "designed" by having several B-29s interred in the Soviet Union that they could take apart and basically copy, except the engines which were existing Soviet designs.

The Buran wasn't quite as much a copy- for starters, it didn't contain the main engines, but a lot of its design came from espionage (pretty easily, since the Shuttle program was mostly unclassified). Similar purpose causes similar design, and it's development was directly to counteract the US Space Shuttle.
