KInd of like the conservatives bitching about denial of free speech on college campuses with "speech codes", but then cheering when universities are being denied funds because they will not prohibit the speech they don't like. But no one says they have to be consistent, assholes rarely are.

Nobody wants 'a level playing field' or fairness. The rules only should be applied to 'my' advantage. MLB recognizes this and encourages a real 'home field advantage' in that teams are allowed or even encouraged to modify the playing field to favor the weaknesses and strengths of the home team.
That is very obvious with the Trumpers. They are strong advocates for rules and principles only as long as their leader can exploit them.
For the Trumper, constitutional rights have no real existence. They only useful as rhetorical devices.
I think Trump wanted the Declaration of Independence on display in his office as a handy checklist of what to do as a tyrant.
