I thought some might appreciate this little piece I just read about John Williams.

Re: Music recommendations
It's interesting that the writer describes Williams as dismissive of film music, because I don't think that's what Williams was trying to say. I think he means that film music is simply not the same level of composition as concert music and shouldn't be considered as comparable to the extended and fully realized works of the concert repertoire. Film music is an aid to telling a primarily visual story, while music written for concert performance tells its story all on its own as a standalone work. But there's certainly a lot of great film music that's just as memorable as the movies it augments. Just off the top of my head I would put in that class the scores from Lawrence of Arabia, Gone With The Wind, Chariots of Fire, and certainly all of Ennio Morricone's spaghetti western music (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Once Upon A Time In The West, Fistful of Dollars, etc.).BoSoxGal wrote: ↑Sun Aug 24, 2025 2:10 pmI thought some might appreciate this little piece I just read about John Williams.

Congrats to Bad Bunny, the artist chosen to headline the Super Bowl halftime show next year! Making MAGA heads explode all across the USA!
[Intro]
New York!
[Chorus: Andy Montañez & Bad Bunny]
If you wanna have fun
With charm and delight
You just have to live (Where?)
A summer in New York (New York!)
If you wanna have fun
With charm and delight (But what's this?)
You just have to live (And this cold?)
A summer in New York (Just for a bit)
[Verse 1: Bad Bunny]
Hey, hey, hey, July 4th, 4th of July
I'm hanging out drunk with my cousin, feeling fly
My people in The Bronx know what's up
Buzzing high over in Washington Heights
Willie Colón, they call me "The Bad One," hey
'Cause the years go by and I'm still hitting hard
Selling albums like Frida Kahlo paintings
The coke is white, yeah, yeah, the 2CB's pink, eh-eh
Don't get it twisted, no, no, better avoid it, hey (Hey)
A shot of rum at Toñita's house and Puerto Rico feels so close
Yeah, yeah, yeah, like a championship, nobody can take it from me
[Interlude]
The best in the world
Number one, the best in the world, okay? Puerto Rico!
[Verse 2: Bad Bunny]
How's Bad Bunny gonna be the king of pop, hey, with reggaetón and dembow?
Hey, with reggaetón and dembow, yeah, with reggaetón and dembow
How's Bad Bunny gonna be the king of pop, hey, with reggaetón and dembow?
I feel like Lápiz in "Capea El Dough"
When I was born, that's when flow was born
Back and forth, ping-pong
A heavy flow, Big Pun
With a silencer, we steal the girls, James Bond, hey
I'm in my zone, I've got no rival, no
With the Yankees and the Mets, Juan Soto
Run, 'cause we're knocking it out of the park again (Hey)
[Chorus: Andy Montañez & Bad Bunny]
If you wanna have fun
With charm and delight
You just have to live (We're leaving soon)
A summer in New— (Relax, man)
[Interlude: Bad Bunny]
Shh, careful, don't let anyone hear us
Shh, careful, don't let anyone hear us
Shh, careful, don't let anyone hear us
Shh, caref—
[Verse 3: Bad Bunny]
You've got swagger, baby, so do I
You're hot, so am I
I smell good and I roll with the best
If you want it, you've got to move it
You've got swagger, baby, so do I
You're hot, so am I
I smell good and I roll with the best
If you want it, you've got to move it
[Outro: Bad Bunny]
You've got to move it, move-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve
You've got to move it, move-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve
You've got to move it, move-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve
You've got to move it, move-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve-ve
Shh

If you want see the Super Bowl in person next year, you better bring your passport or federal approved driver's permit
Secretary of Homeland Security Noem: “We’re gonna enforce the law. So I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they’re law-abiding Americans who love this country.”
Bad Bunny probably will probably continue to limit his live music appearances in North America. Maybe you can catch him on WWE.
I know life is hard out there on the Dakotas prairie, so I suppose the universities there rarely expose their students to the 1957 musical 'West Side Story' which informs the audience that nobody in American knows Puerto Rico is in America.
I will be staying home. Probably reading the works of Mark Twain who wrote, among many things:
"We teach them to take their patriotism at second-hand; to shout with the largest crowd without examining into the right or wrong of the matter -- exactly as boys under monarchies are taught and have always been taught. We teach them to regard as traitors, and hold in aversion and contempt, such as do not shout with the crowd, and so here in our democracy we are cheering a thing which of all things is most foreign to it and out of place -- the delivery of our political conscience into somebody else's keeping. This is patriotism on the Russian plan.
The soul and substance of what customarily ranks as patriotism is moral cowardice -- and always has been."
When did the Super Bowl cease to be an international sporting event?
snailgate.
