Way back when I still lived in my parents house I was looking out the window watching two mourning doves eating on the bird feeder. All of a sudden they both flap their wings and before they could take off a red tailed hawk swoops in and nails one of them. Feathers all over and this hawk has the dove pinned down on the ground and is pecking at it. Thent eh hawk takes the dove and flies into a nearby tree and pins the dove on a branch and leaves. A day later the hawk comes back and eats the dove.

That was one of the first red tailed hawks I saw on Long Island (their population had been decimated in the 1960's). Now they are everywhere and have made a nice comeback.

Cool oldr! I remember when Redtails were shot on sight under the misguided notion that they were "Chicken Hawks".
{So what they pilfered a few chickens. That's what they do. LOL}

They have made a prolific comeback in the Midwest since they became a protected species. Much like Wild Turkeys thanks to Sportsman like myself that have donated to the restocking of indigenous populations. Now they are everywhere! If one is inclined to notice.

Few things are cooler than watching a Redtail Hawk swoop down and nail some prey right before your eyes. 8-) :ok

Ps: I guess watching Shamu eating a trainer would come in as second best...

Even here on Long Island the wild turkeys have made such a comeback that we have a fall turkey season now. And I just found out yesterday that today and tomorrow is a special spring turkey season just for kids under the age of 18. (tom's only)
Had I known, I would have gotten a license for my nephew as he is down visiting from upstate for easter.

That tiger is the perfect point Timster- not to go all PETA on you; don't know if you know it, but Falcon Cam has been going on for FIVE years now. (Click link under my Sharks Shield) Did you think Dolphins were veggos!? Fish gotta swim, and birds gotta fly to hunt down their food. I was having fun wit'dat; we (humans) are NOT the top of the food chain; somethings always out to eat us. God bless'em ;)

Ermmm... perfect point for what exactly? To promote the Falcon Cam? I get "Fish gotta swim, and birds gotta fly" but WTF does that have to do with me thinking that "Dolphins were veggos!?" What, am I retarded now?

Seriously. I tried. But I can make no sense out of that post. *heavy sigh*

Ok. Just to lighten this bullshit up a bit... What is the difference between a Cat and a Comma?

A cat has claws at the end of its paws, while the other has a pause after its clause.

Now lighten the hell up! :fu

I am totally Serious about that.

Since Timbob and his Sweets have gone all naturey on us.

Google informs me JJ Audubon would have been 226 today...
Sometimes it seems as though one has to cross the line just to figger out where it is

Nice tribute by Google. My mother got a chance to work with some of his original works; she was curator of a collection of ornithology books for a number of years. Beautiful beautiful stuff.

Just thought I would add: The rental car. Which was 37% of our vacation cost... But it got us to Coco Beach and back and forth twice (an hour drive from Orlando) and we didn't have to wait for "resort shuttle buses on their schedule" and were able to go and come as we pleased.

Well worth it. :D

I absolutely HATE the expense of hiring a vehicle when I am on holiday. It is one of those unfortunate evils.
