Her hat is most kindly welcome in the ring. Her ass, however, must be kicked out of the ring with all due haste.

He's no Ronald Reagan, but could Rick Perry pull off a victory if he decides to jump in, after saying he wasn't interested for months?

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll shows the former New York City mayor atop the slow-forming Republican primary field.

The survey shows Giuliani getting 16 percent of independents and Republicans, with nominal frontrunner Mitt Romney a point behind at 15 percent.

Sarah Palin gets 13 percent.

Neither Palin nor Giuliani are sure things for the 2012 election, and their perches in the new poll — the first taken by the news organization since Mike Huckabee, Mitch Daniels and Donald Trump bowed out — speak to how wide-open the race is.

Palin, the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee, has increasingly sent signals that she might jump in, and is launching a bus tour on Sunday that will take her to New Hampshire for the first time since the 2008 race.

"Giuliani has the top spot in a 12-candidate field, but he doesn't generate a lot of enthusiasm. Only about a quarter of Republicans nationwide said that they would be enthusiastic if Giuliani won the nomination," said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "But he's not alone — only a quarter would be enthusiastic if Palin got the party's nod, and only one in five would feel the same way if Romney became the GOP's standard bearer in 2012."

Rudy Giuliani? The cross-dressing wife-dumping homo-roommating 9-11 fetishist? The whole GOP field is just a big ol' mountain of fail.

Yeah, but "The Specials" give him a really catchy theme tune in "A message to you Rudy", no?

Go Sarah, go!!
Sarah Palin's ride through Washington on a Harley-Davidson yesterday as part of the Rolling Thunder "Ride for Freedom" has put her back in the national spotlight as the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

The former Alaska governor joined about 400,000 bikers for the annual ride, which coincided with the first leg of a bus tour that is renewing speculation about her 2012 White House ambitions.

Mrs Palin, who had no official speaking role at the event, arrived wearing a helmet and rode on the back of a Harley from the Pentagon towards the Vietnam War Memorial.

(Palin should move to Sydney! Ed..)

Rolling Thunder, which began in 1988, was established by Vietnam veterans to draw attention to missing service members and prisoners of war.

Mrs Palin's husband, Todd, and daughters Piper and Bristol also took part in the ride.

In a posting on her political action committee website, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate said Rolling Thunder, through the roar of tens of thousands of bike engines, kept alive the Memorial Day spirit of honouring veterans.

To date, the media have revealed that there are precisely two (2) factions who want Sara Palin to run for President. One is the eight or ten republicans who would actually vote for her, and the other is the thundering herd of liberals in the media and government who see her as an easy target.

If Rush Limbaugh was unsuccessful in getting the Democrat nomination for Hillary last time around, I suspect those two factions will be unsuccessful in getting the nomination for SP in 2012.

In our fucked-up American culture, she has become the political equivalent of Paris Hilton - famous for being famous. SP, like TH, is looking for ways to elevate her profile so that Palin, Inc, can make lots of money for herself and her family for a long time to come. She has uttered not one thing cannot be said better by someone else on The Right. I doubt she is even running for VP or a cabinet position - she couldn't accept the pay cut.

The poor outlook for the Republican candidate in 2012 - in my view - is less about Who and more about What. With productive taxpayers a decided minority in the US, the vast majority of the population does not want to hear the Republican message of smaller government and fiscal responsibility. Half of US households pay no federal income tax. Think they care about the unsustainable cost of Government?

Regardless, with a Republican House and Senate, Barry will not be able to fuck things up too badly during a second term, and what the heck, we might even be able to impeach him for violating the War Powers Act in Libya.

Speaking of Rudy:
TOP OF THE BOTTOM OF THE HEAP
Giuliani Beating Romney In Poll Despite Not Running

by Wonkette Jr.

Poor Mittens. Rudy Giuliani is edging him out in a new CNN/Opinion Research poll, and Giuliani isn’t even running! GOP voters sure are fickle. You’d think they could at least reward Romney just for politely telling everyone that he actually wants to be president. The Mayor of 9/11 hasn’t declared his candidacy and hasn’t hired any staff, because, eh, the Obama guy is still probably going to run and who wants to try to beat that dude?

From CNN:

"Giuliani, who was a candidate in the last presidential cycle, is also considering another bid, but an adviser tells CNN that the former New York City mayor is not taking active steps toward getting in the race other than making recent appearances in New Hampshire, which holds the first primary on the road to the White House."

CNN probably just included Giuliani in their poll to make Mittens feel bad. Giuliani still only got 16% of the vote, and Mittens was one point behind him. Aimless field trip queen Sarah Palin was third with only 13%. It’s nice to know that you can be a cross-dressing, gay-people-loving, divorced Catholic guy who’s totally suspect when it comes to conservative social issues, have no policy platform of any kind during one of the worst jobs crises in generations and you will still beat everyone else in the GOP primary field — even when you’re not running for the nomination.

Sad spherical life-form Newt Gingrich came in with 8% of the vote, only slightly ahead of “No One,” who got 5%. [CNN]

I saw that poll last week...

Hey Sue, I don't know if you noticed, but your man Herman managed to pull 10% in that poll...

I'm amazed that 10% have ever even heard of him....

Actually, I think Sarah is gunning for VP again, since she really doesn't want to work for a living. "what is it exactly that the VP does every day? "

She knows she not qualified to be President, but she also knows how to ride the coattails of a more powerful figure. What she can tribute to the campaign is all this pre-packaged media attention, and the support of the Tea Baggers. That would be the extent of Palin's VeePresidency to look good and cheer lead, while pocketing a fat paycheck.

I was thinking the same thing.

But of course anyone who chose Palin her as VP running mate would be committing political suicide.

Sadly, I believe that she really is that stupid.

Personally, I'd like to see Dan Quayle & Sarah Palin chosen for the Republican ticket in 2012.

It would help our economy tremendously.

People would flock to comedy concerts and spend lots of cash and then buy thousands of products marketed by SNL advertisers and other TV comedy shows.

And I'm thinking you two must have gotten in to Sue's stash.... :P

Sarah Palin isn't "gunning" for anything, except to get ride the gravy train as long as she possibly can to bank as much coin as she possibly can....

She doesn't want an elective office of any sort.....

She doesn't want the pay cut....

Least of all a job where she'd be expected to do and say what somebody else tells her to do and say....
But of course anyone who chose Palin her as VP running mate would be committing political suicide
Now there, you're spot on....

Why would anyone want a lightning rod, media oxygen sucker, loose cannon as their running mate?

Unless of course the GOP nominee decides after being nominated that they've had second thoughts, and want to make absolutely certain that they won't win; in which case picking Palin would make perfect sense....

Otherwise, they'd have a better chance if they put Charlie Sheen on the ticket....
