What An F-n Disgrace!
What An F-n Disgrace!
I suppose "art" like "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder, I find this dispaly reprehensible.

What is objectionable about decrying global violence?
Obviously the Allies had to respond to Hitler, and doing so effectively (by the time they rose to respond) required more violence.
Does it occur to you that the artist's objective is to decry the massive loss of life on Omaha beach? How does that dishonor the dead?

For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Maybe the thought behind it was a good one, but turning soldiers helmets into turtles is stupid.
Re: What An F-n Disgrace!
Yes it is, Joe.
I like turtles, but to equate the brave men who risked their lives to turtles is beyond me.
Stoopid.

Turtles, my @ss!

Re: What An F-n Disgrace!
I suppose it all depends on your view of turtles.
I think you are thinking of a turtle being slow and stupid.
I think of turtles as having a relentless drive that pushes them forward. That coupled with the similarity between shell and helmet, to me, makes a beautiful display.

Bah!

Re: What An F-n Disgrace!
Turtles are one of my favorite creatures.
But this display looks to me like soldiers who were squished into their helmets and then crawled forward on the beach.

Maybe he should have used some hats like these...
Sometimes it seems as though one has to cross the line just to figger out where it is
Re: What An F-n Disgrace!
The trouble is that most modern "art" tries to provoke. Unfortunately, it goes no further than that and forgets its also supposed to be art.
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”
Re: What An F-n Disgrace!
Turtles are nice! Everyone likes turtles.
Those look more like tortoises than turtles to me and frankly they don't look like happy or healthy tortoises either. A little clumsy in execution.
A work of art is an attempt to communicate. I have to respect it as such even when it is less than clear what is being said.
