Eight million gallons of water had to be drained from a US reservoir in Oregon after a man urinated in it.
The operation is costing the state's taxpayers $US36,000 ($34,000) and was ordered after Joshua Seater, 21, was caught on a security camera relieving himself in the pristine lake.
Health experts said the incident would not have caused any harm to people in Portland, who are supplied with drinking water from the reservoir.
But David Shaff, of the Portland Water Bureau, defended the decision to empty the lake.
"I think what you have to deal with here is the 'yuck' factor," he said.
"Do you want to drink pee? Most people are going to be pretty damn squeamish."

Taking the (very dilute) piss
Taking the (very dilute) piss

Re: Taking the (very dilute) piss
Stupid Yes. Drinking that guys pee? Would you?
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Taking the (very dilute) piss
I'm assuming that any water stored in that reservoir would have to go through a purification process before it is piped into the city supply.
How many animals have pissed in that reservoir (or were drowned in it) without anyone taking a freak fit over it?

Animal piss (and shit) I can handle. That tool though? Not so much.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Can you catch stupid at 8.000.000 to 1 dilution?

would you chance it?

Re: Taking the (very dilute) piss
Outrageous waste of money in these times. If I was a tax-paying resident of Oregon, I'd want to piss on the guy who decided to drain the reservoir. Talk about a tool!

'Cha, urine is sterile. You can drink it undiluted with no major ill effects. Some even think it has medicinal properties.

One would think that would have to be the case....I'm assuming that any water stored in that reservoir would have to go through a purification process before it is piped into the city supply.
Aside from animals pissing in it, what about things like dead birds?
On top of that, the nature of stupid people being what it is , the publicity this has received will probably encourage "copycats".....
When this happens, is the state of Oregon going to keep flushing this lake like a giant toilet, to the tune of 36K every time they push the handle?

Re: Taking the (very dilute) piss
Desert species that I am, I can not fathom (see? respectful water reference) wasting water, even fouled by fowls.
That has no coolness factor for me

Re: Taking the (very dilute) piss
There are places here in the U.S. where they recycle sewage water for drinking.
I agree with BSG. The person that made the decision to drain the lake ought to be drained of his job.

Same with the guy who released the image of the culprit with out that the "skeevishness factor" all but dissapears.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: Taking the (very dilute) piss
I hope they charge the guy for every penny.

Doubtless he'll be court-ordered to pay restitution.
Doubtless the State will never see a dime from him, but will rather expend more resources in the pursuit of it.

In Australia in a young man of his age, he would have just been peeing out all the beer he had drunk anyway...
