Prime Rib For The Doggy....

Bread and water for the mother:
Dog guards baby abandoned by drunk mother
3-month-old Russian child was left overnight in a park

A Russian dog guarded a three-month-old overnight after the child's mother went drinking and forgot about her baby, a Russian news service reported on Friday.

Twenty-two year old Olga had gone into a park in the city of Saratov with her child and pet when she met friends, RT reported.

She and her friends had some drinks and later Olga went home without the baby and dog, according to RT.

Upon waking up the next morning and realizing her mistake, Olga called her parents.

"She was in panic," Olga's mother reportedly said. "She was screaming that her son had been stolen."

Olga's father went to the park and discovered the pram holding the child, Vadim, and the dog next to it, RT reported.

"The baby was found wet, hungry and in tears, but what's more important, safe and sound," Olga's neighbors reportedly said.

"The weather was quite warm, so the baby even managed not to catch cold. Thank God, the dog had been guarding the whole night and had been keeping away all strangers," they added.

It's a nice story, but do we really know whether the dog did anything?

It would have been a much better story if the dog had changed the baby's diapers and then convinced Olga to join Alcoholics Anonymous.

I do wonder how an unattended baby carriage with a dog next to it could be sitting in a public park, (unless it was a really remote area) for so long without being noticed by a patroling cop, or reported to the police to check it out...

They couldn't get near to check it out, the dog was guarding it...

And no person in attendance...

A very odd scene....

I might have pulled out my cell and called the police to check it out, even if I wasn't going to approach the carriage myself....

The cops could have sedated the dog if necessary to see what was up...

Well, this was Russia; the dog was doing a better job than most cops, why stop him?

'Narcing' = getting someone in trouble with the cops.

The dog was doing fine, he didn't need the cops, nor was he doing anything bad that should have been stopped by the cops.

Well yeah, the dog was doing what he could, but it's still not generally a good idea for a baby to be spending the night in a carriage in a public park, dog or no dog....

Surely you're not suggesting that people who came by should have thought, "Well, there's no need to report this; the dog's got it handled..."

I've really hope that's not what you're saying...

I understand the word 'narcing', just not how you used it in the first place in reference to the story. Even with your definition it doesn't help your first comment. Perhaps you would like to review what I am actually asking?

So once more .... "dogs command too much respect to narc on em".

Dogs command too much respect from who to narc on who?

Just let me know who the dogs command the respect from to stop them from dobbing the drunk absent owner into the police?

When did the police get involved in the story in the first place? I can't see any reference to their involvement?
Bah!

Knowing Russian cops, the babe was in better paws; the Ruskies would have shot first and asked questions later.

Now that's funny!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

I believe Hen is wondering who it is that dogs 'command' respect from.

Police?

Russians who shoot first and ask questions later?

People who would 'narc' on them?

Other dogs?

Babies?

The parents who have abandoned babies in a park?

There is a bit of miscommunication going on here...

Someone needs to borrow a dog..
A mother was arrested after she was found 'drunk and unconscious' in the street while her two-year-old child was left next to a busy road.

The woman, in her 20s, was spotted by a shocked passer-by collapsed on the pavement outside a bar lying next her to toddler’s pram in Lowestoft, Norfolk.

Stunned police came to her aid and a breath test revealed she had downed so much alcohol she was four times the drink-drive limit.

Gee, a .32...

That's pretty hardcore...

The point about this happening in Russia may be relevant LoCa, (though we're talking about normal community beat cops; not Putin's political thugs)

But I have to say that if I saw a baby carriage in a park, with no one but a dog in attendance, (in fact the presence of the dog would make me think this was something odd...even if there was no noise coming from the carriage...) I'm pretty sure the first thing I would do is walk over to check it out....

And if the dog started going ballistic when I approached, and knowing how protective dogs can be of "the human puppy" members of their "pack" (one of their most noble and appealing qualities) I would immediately call the authorities, because at that point I'd know that the odds were pretty good that there was a baby in the carriage....

Ah so, dogs command respect from me; especially working dogs.

You don't respect that dignity, loyalty, and devotion; what can I say? :shrug
