State of Origin

Post by Gob »

I went to the big fight, and a rugby match broke out..

It's game on in the 2011 State of Origin series, with NSW getting an emotional win over Queensland 18-8 and taking it to a decider in Brisbane. Blood will flow..

You do realise that the Maroons threw the game in Sydney just to keep it interesting don't you? ;)

Hard to see past 6 in a row for Queensland really...

Now Rugby is one Brit sport that isn't as boring as a paint drying contest....

(Except of course for that "group hug" thing they like to do from time to time...Rugby players sure seem to like to do a lot of "male bonding"...)

A primitive forerunner of the modern game of Football, Rugby has a certain quaint charm....

Sort of like being transported back in time to watch a football game from the 1890's.....when teeth weren't considered to be a particularly important part of the human body....

This is Rugby League, Jim. The far superior and less huggy version of the game :D

QLD 34 NSW 24

The scoreline was not a fair reflection on the game. Queensland dominated from start to finish apart from a brief spell at the end of each half which was when NSW scored all of their points.

A fitting send-off for Darren Lockyer in his last Origin game although I was hoping he'd sing 'What a Wonderful World' at the end... he's certainly got the voice for it! ;)

Best moment was the pitchside 'interview' of Lockyer by Wally Lewis after the final whistle:

WL: Onya mate!
DL: Thanks mate!

I do like rugby player's physiques, talk about beating yourself into shape.

I'll take a hug from one or several, any day!
