Did Sylvia ever get married?

Post by liberty »

Doctor Hook wants to know: Did Sylvia ever get married?

Did she ever get married or was it just her mother talking? Did she spend the rest of her wishing she had settle for being the door matt for the only man she ever loved. What happened to Silva?

______________________________________________________________________

Shel Silverstein)

Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's busy, too busy to come to the phone
Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's tryin' to start a new life of her own
Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's happy so why don't you leave her alone
And the operator says forty cents more for the next three minutes

Please Mrs. Avery, I just gotta talk to her,
I'll only keep her a while
Please Mrs. Avery, I just wanna tell her goodbye

Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's packin' she's gonna be leavin' today
Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's marryin' a fella down Galveston way
Sylvia's mother says please don't say nothin' to make her start cryin' and stay
And the operator says forty cents more for the next three minutes

Please Mrs. Avery, I just gotta talk to her,
I'll only keep her a while
Please Mrs. Avery, I just wanna tell her goodbye

Sylvia's mother says Sylvia's hurryin' she's catchin' the nine o'clock train
Sylvia's mother says take your umbrella cause Sylvie, it's startin' to rain
And Sylvia's mother says thank you for callin' and sir won't you call back again
And the operator says forty cents more for the next three minutes

Please Mrs. Avery, I just gotta talk to her,
I'll only keep her a while
Please Mrs. Avery, I just wanna tell her goodbye

Tell her goodbye...
Please... tell her goodbye..

I expected to be placed in an air force combat position such as security police, forward air control, pararescue or E.O.D. I would have liked dog handler. I had heard about the dog Nemo and was highly impressed. “SFB” is sad I didn’t end up in E.O.D.

Chicken, Dale the women here can’t actually skin you alive. They might make feel like it, but you’re a tough guy, right.

I you remember this was the age of Aquarius, the time free love; no hip woman would have any objections to her man spreading love around. “Peace man make love not war”

Hey, I know he is an outsider, but I just had to post his comment. People who have imagination deserve recognition.

Sylvia never married, she never got over her over-bearing mothers interference in the one true love of her life. She did however disign and market a range of pre-cut labels which bear her family name to this day.
He ran out of 40 cents before the old bag would let him speak to Sylvia, but he did manage to get a date with the long distance operator. They married had three kids and although never as rich as Sylvia, they acquired enough money to retire to Hawaii where he was last heard of researching and writing a book that proves Pacific Island people discovered America even before the Vikings got there. He still thinks fondly of Sylvia and wonders what happened to her.

"Sylvia's Mother" is autobiographical, with songwriter Shel Silverstein drawing upon his unsuccessful attempt to revive a failed relationship. Silverstein had been in love with a woman named Sylvia Pandolfi, but she would later be engaged to another man. Desperate to continue the relationship, Silverstein called Pandolfi's mother, Louisa, but she instead told him that the love had ended
‘Sylvia Pandolfi’ there’s a video of ‘Shel’s Song’ (which is actually ‘Sylvia’s Mother’) which shows Louisa (mother) and Sylvia talking about the day Shel phoned and this song. The mother looks a bit of a rough dog, in fact I think she’s so ugly not even a sniper would ‘take her out.’

A short film about the song Sylvia's Mother. The song was written by Shel Silverstein, a songwriter, poet, cartoonist and childrensbook writer. He wrote the song about people he knew. In the studio of the TOP2000 a go go in 2002 singer Dennis Loccoriere watched this film and saw for the first time the people he was singing about all these years. Director: Arjan Vlakveld
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Just a little ribbing. War of the sexes; nothing serious.

I tease my wife by saying that men can’t ever be truly free until women are submissive. And then I say,“ Some day there will be men liberation”. and she will reply, not in your life-time.

Men of the world rise up all you have to lose are your chains. :)

I didn’t know that Gob I just always liked the song; it is one of those songs that sticks with you. Why I like it, I realty can’t say I just do. Another song like that is, “ The Night That Chicago Died”.
