Bleaach...

What a disgusting premise for a television show....I don't know which is worse; the exhibitionism of the "contestant" or the voyeurism of the audience....

I feel like taking a shower just from watching that....

And the stupid bimbo didn't even win the money....

I've never watched (or even heard of) this monstrosity before, (and I certainly don't plan to start watching it) but I assume that the "contestants" are hooked up to a lie detector?

I'm reminded why I don't have a TV.

Fortunately it's not all like that BSG....

TV is like the internet; there's good stuff and total garbage...

The same medium that displays this trash also provides a great series like Through The Wormhole...

I've been meaning to start a thread about that series; it's currently running on Nat'l Geo Science...

It's hosted by Morgan Freeman and it's a fantastic program both for kids and anyone else who's interested in the mysteries of how the universe operates. It does a superb job of explaining the most esoteric and complex physics theories and concepts in easy to understand and entertaining ways. I highly recommend it.

If cable would let you buy a custom package, I'd happily sign up for the nerd package.

CNN, cspan(s), PBS, natgeo, science, history, TCM, BBCAmerica, maybe animal planet, and A&E

Too much on the other channels is junk I don't even want to be tempted to watch.

Oops also comedy central just for Jon & Steven, and IFC because of the quirky independent stuff.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

And Cartoon Network for Adult Swim
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

We've been wanting that option for some time as well BSG. I think the companies involved are smart enough to know that if they offer it, the middle classes will all choose non-commercial stations, like Aunty Beeb, and there will be no great revenue generated.

Only three of the channels I listed are commercial-free, though. Most have plenty of commercials that still require muting - but better overall content. (ps I would add cartoon network for adult swim, though I only occasionally watched it.)

I just don't want to pay $50-$100 monthly for 175 crappy channels I don't want so I can get a dozen I do.

Actually on Dish Network I had 40 HD channels for $30/mo. & it was mostly those I wanted. Lots of service interruptions, though.

Big thread hijack, sorry. Back to the OP; 99% of game shows and 'reality' TV programming is utterly vile.

Dear God no! We loath the idea of paying anything extra. The ONLY channel I would consider paying a few bucks a month for would be the BBC, and then only for the terrestrial channels, not BBC worldwide.
