Happy Birthday Oldr!

Post by Sean »

You get to start celebrating early because it's the 18th here in Oz now.

Have a good one mate! :ok
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Thanks everyone. I'm a little late in catching up with the board as I've been a little busy.

Thanks again and yes I am old, 53 years on this earth. Met a guy at an AA meeting who has 55 years of sobriety.

Glad you had a great and sober Birthday older. Should be kinda cool being able to remember one for a change.

Much belated but much heartfelt happy birthday.

And thinking of you and hoping Irene ends up being a big fizzy overblown storm in a teacup, and that you and your family stay safe :-)

Thank alice. Irene wasn't as bad as hyped (but then what is?). Got power 2 1/2 days after we lost it. Not too bad. Way back in 1985 when hurricane Gloria hit it was over 7 days without power.

Overhyped? Try telling that to the state of Vermont, which is in tatters and possibly to remain that way for a long time. Just because NY wasn't hit hard doesn't mean others weren't.

People - many people- don't have home or their homes and businesses were flooded out, roads and bridges are washed away so communities are isolated and running out of food and water, medicines, basic supplies. The national guard is making air drops, back woods trails are being used to deliver goods and get in medical care.

Over 4 million people in the northeast were without power, over a million are still out. Schools didnt open. Businesses were disrupted. There was still flooding occurring in Western MA and NJ from rising waters yesterday, and flash floods hit VT last night, further screwing up the infrastructure.

30 people died.

Yeah, Irene was a picnic.
