The only reason why Steve Jobs quit as CEO of the company he co-founded and made into a world leader is because the end of his life is near. His body is breaking down and, as usual, neither he nor Apple will discuss it.
Steve Jobs Resigns: What Will Apple Do With the iPhone 5? Watch Video
Just because he's out of the corporate office doesn't mean he's leaving the company bereft. Apple's headquarters is on Infinite Loop in Cupertino, Calif. Its ad campaigns for products featured people like the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela, who encouraged consumer to "Think Different." He encouraged subordinates to be "insanely great."
Steve Jobs is probably "insanely great" himself. At 56, he has no formal higher education, yet will go down in history (with Steve Wozniak, his teenage buddy and co-founder) as the man who made computing personal. This is probably his greatest insight: popularizing technology that had been reserved for elites and making it available for everyone.

Re: Apple is [Steve] Jobless
Whatever you think of him as a person; in the business field there are very few with the kind of vision he brought to Apple. He created entire industries over and over again. There is no one in business in Europe, or anywhere else, who is his equal.
