Can we go see him play Hen, please? Pretty please????
THE Melbourne Stars will unveil Shane Warne as their marquee signing for the Big Bash League next week, in a huge and much-needed boost for Cricket Australia's new Twenty20 tournament.
The Herald understands Warne, 42, has been enticed out of retirement with a lucrative package that will see him become the face of Fox Sports' BBL coverage and includes marketing of Warne's new business enterprise, the Club 23 bar at Melbourne's Crown Casino.
The champion leg-spinner has not played top-flight cricket in Australia since helping the country to a 5-0 Ashes whitewash over England in January 2007, but he is still the game's biggest star.
His presence will be trumpeted as just what the fledgling league needs to capture the public imagination, and in particular the new generation of cricket followers Cricket Australia is targeting with the eight-team city-based competition. CA will kick in a marketing bonus in the range of $50,000 in return for Warne spruiking the league around the country.
It is unclear how many games he will play for the Stars but the comeback will see him return to the MCG, the scene of his memorable 700th Test wicket during the Boxing Day Test of 2006. Officials had hoped he would be available for the opening match against the Sydney Thunder on December 17, a clash with his former Australian teammate Matthew Hayden at the 'Gabba on December 20 and the derby against the Melbourne Renegades at the MCG on January 7.

Shane Warne is best known for his cricketing prowess, but he is also a connoisseur of women's clothing who knows his Cavalli from his Chanel.
Warne yesterday completed his transformation from beer-swilling bogan to man-about-town metrosexual when he sat front row with Liz Hurley at the Roberto Cavalli show during Milan Fashion Week.
“Shane often chooses my clothes and nine times out of 10 he chooses Cavalli,” Hurley said from the front row.
Surrender your Bloke's card at the door Mr Warne, all your bloke privileges have been cancelled indefinitely.
Dear god what has happened to him, did she cut them off?
Ten years ago that would have read; “Shane often chooses my clothes, and nine times out of 10 he chooses the leather Basque, hold up sheer stockings, six inch stilettos, and a Brazilian”
