Re: Quel dommage
Nice try BSG, but I could not have IMed nor texted you if you had not provided me with more personal information. In fact, our first exchanges were PM's then emails on CSB were they not?
Yes, I still have those, as I save digital correspondence too and you seemed more than eager to talk about Editec and Steve since at the time they were your nemesis'; as well as what you were going through in personal relationships, through each relationship as it happened. Let's not forget all the chats.
I beg your pardon that I showed any concern for your welfare at that time, if it was any inconvenience to you. I had thought you were receptive to a friendship, however I had no idea of your insincerity, my bad. It seems, Editec was right, I should not have tried to befriend you; I'll admit my mistake in attempting to do so.
I will continue to keep our exchanges private and will not disclose them as anything other than what they were, your faking it, as that is my personal system of honor. Since yes, I had no idea you didn't mean any word of it. I've already called off any personal exchanges/relationships with you and I appreciate your confirming my decision to do so.

Tell me this Andrew, when did you change from a reasonable poster to a complete cunt?
Did it happen overnight or was it a gradual thing?
Did it happen overnight or was it a gradual thing?
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

I see.Andrew D wrote:An interesting idea. If this board's search function is working properly, I did not post at all from 20 August through 28 September (which is rather more than two weeks), and during the two weeks from 25 October through 7 November, I posted once (and the bulk of that posting was a reposting).
So you do not realize that there was no flaming from approximately just after you left to when Lo started her infamous thread abouttorturing squirrels in the Laff forum.
You are totally uneducated in what has gone on and you have made an ill informed assumption.
Not to worry Andrew.
Do me a favour and read LMAO NSF PETA.?
Understand that what has happened here is only extremely short lived.
If you don't believe me, ask Lo to provide evidence of earlier threads of this type of bitching during your absence.
For an educated man, it is a shame to see you post from such a position of ignorance.
Bah!

The only thing I have leand from this thread is Because of my Absence in a certain posters list I must therefore be a perfectly rational well adjusted human being.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

Either that or you two fall into your very own category of insanity...

No flaming?
Of course not.
This, for example:
It was just a civil exchange of views -- the kind of calm, rational debate that this board is all about.
The examples are legion.

Re: Quel dommage
We have all been guilty of bad behavior and intemperate remarks. In some respects, it is just the nature of communication on the interwebs.
I always figured people who were flaming each other were doing so because they were getting something out of the exchange. If people want to shit all over each other in threads around the board, that's their business. But I for one become less and less inclined to wade through the shit to find any nuggets of gold.

Re: Quel dommage
loCA, of course I engaged with you in a truly friendly way over time - but my point was that it was YOU who initiated offboard interaction, NOT me. You keep trying to paint this as though I've 'lost' the relationship with you; a relationship I never initiated nor made any particular effort to cultivate? That's a simply bizarre position.
It is my nature to be kind to everyone I encounter in this life, as I was kind to you. I ultimately became tired of your endless excuses for failing to seek treatment, and your berating me for encouraging you to seek some kind of treatment, for the substance abuse issues you kept telling me about over and over and over in texts, emails, IMs. It was clear you sought to be enabled, and nothing more. (eta: The final straw for me was when you began communicating with me offboard seeking some kind of affirmation for your anger at Gob/Hen; I did not choose to be put in the middle of that situation. When you began trolling them on this board, I was done. I believe I made a healthy choice to distance myself from an unhealthy person, and I am not the least bit sorry for, or ashamed of, that decision.)
And it was me who asked you to stop offboard communications, not the other way around. I believe that is manifest in both emails and perhaps also in public postings on this board. Your insistence on painting it otherwise only proves to me that you lack the ability to perceive reality in a healthy way.
AGD, it's really pathetic the way you persist in denigrating me in a manner which paints a broad brush denigrating anybody who makes the choice, whether due to family ties or personal preference, to live a rural lifestyle. Justice is the right of all people, wherever they live, and I particularly intended to get the very best legal education I could and utilize it to the benefit of the underprivileged. Many of my classmates did as well. Some of us have chosen to do so in urban locations, some in rural locations. Nevertheless, I have succeeded in urban settings as well, and passed up several opportunities post-law school to stay in DC and shine on that stage, in favor of a personal desire to live in a rural setting. I came to Montana to fulfill a desire to work intensively with native peoples - guess what, they don't live in big cities in large concentrations. But I guess in your mind, working in the trenches with native peoples here in the US is pathetic work that only losers pursue; the truly gifted advocate on behalf of the native peoples of foreign countries through academic circles.
Please, continue to berate and denigrate me and my professional accomplishments. You only make yourself look small in the process, because all the good people on this board share my belief, I am sure, that public defenders and prosecutors are just as important to a small community as they are to a big city.
The most beloved attorney in this country is the fictional Atticus Finch, based upon Harper Lee's real-life small-town lawyer father. Abraham Lincoln was a rural lawyer, as was Clarence Darrow initially.
I am not at all surprised that you don't understand the enormous respect and admiration that a highly ethical attorney, of good character and manners, practicing in a small community where her every act is subject to widespread public scrutiny, can engender. It is an incredibly rewarding life, to be known to that degree and also admired. I believe people in small places matter as much as anybody; you clearly don't. That you seem to only recognize accomplishments made within the box of BigLaw, big city serves only to diminish my opinion of you even further. Carry on.

Andrew, an attack in retaliation shows ME to be the bad person?
The has made it clear from every single post that he wants this Board to fail and what?
That behavior is fine?
Look at what you are saying, and then remember you have implored the Board in similar circumstances yourself.
I think the term to describe you is hypocrite.

Re: Quel dommage
I was not taking any position as to who started what. I was not trying to make anyone out to be "the bad person". I simply observed that while I was absent, there was plenty of flaming going on.
Nor am I denying that I have done plenty of flaming. Indeed, if you search for postings by me containing the word "asshole," you will find such things as:
Whether the latter outweighs the former is not for me to say.

Re: Quel dommage
Yes, BSG I initially contacted you out of concern for how ~Steve was treating you, and to see how you getting along when times were tough; that's called kindness too. Years later, I'm sorry that I mistook our being 'kind to each other' as friendship and turned to you when I became aware I was an alcoholic. I can only recall your insisting on one form of treatment, not 'some', and that was AA. Interestingly now, I see in another thread that you agree with me that that is not the only form of treatment available.
I thank you for your kind admission at last.

Re: Quel dommage
I can't really denigrate your "professional accomplishments," bsg, because I can't find them. You went from working for the state to working for a county in that state. If that's an accomplishment, what would you consider to be a demotion?
A "rural environment"? The city where you work has a population density greater than those of:
Birmingham AL
Colorado Springs CO
Corpus Christi TX
Durham NC
El Paso TX
Fort Worth TX
Greensboro NC
Indianapolis IN
Jacksonville FL
Kansas City MO
Lexington KY
Memphis TN
Nashville TN
New Orleans LA
Oklahoma City OK
Orlando FL
Scottsdale AZ
Tulsa OK
Virginia Beach VA
Wichita KS
Winston-Salem NC
Your county is micropolitan, not rural.
Helping Native Americans? By throwing them in jail?
I'm just not buying it.

Re: Quel dommage
I chose examples of your flames simply because you suggested that my absences were somehow connected to some supposed lull in flame-wars (a suggestion which you appear to have withdrawn; thanks). The choice seemed appropriate. It still does. If someone else had made the same suggestion, I would have looked for examples of that person's flames. But that is not what happened. The Hen wrote:If you are not taking a position of blame and who started what, then I fail to see why the criticism is only to one side.

Assuming that the offense happened to Andrew on or around June 19th (depending on what side of the dateline you sit)
you responded the 22nd, 24th (in a thread ABOUT it) and as late as july 6th before I stopped looking. Not only that, you also accessed the 'by his request' thread started by Gob where he announced the departure.
And gleefully, Gob has not erased the post of mine in which he edited. lets see if YOU can now do a little discovery of your own.

Andrew had one post here edited by admin that I know of. It was a post in which he revealed another member's real name. Admin made it very clear that an edit was made and why it was made. I don't recall anybody (including Andrew) complaining about that. That edit had nothing to do with Andrew's departure.
