Cymbalta gave me the sweats worked fine other than that.

C-P, celexa is Citalopram, a good'n, for the right person, we have a version sold as cipramil in Aus.
Can I ask what dose? Or PM me maybe.

I think 20mg I could give you a sure answer but then I'd have to go and look at the bottle.

Re: You're all mad!
That sounds about right to me...."Come back and talk to me about it after you've done your first four years in medical college."
I have to say that personally, I find the long lists of "common side affects" that accompany most of these ads, rather off putting; they actually make me less likely to have any interest in most of these pills...
I've seen ads for sleeping pills that list as a "common side affect"... "restlessness"
And ads for anti-depressants that list, "thoughts of suicide"....
I don't know about you, but it seems to me that if there's one thing a sleeping pill shouldn't do it's cause "restlessness".....
And if there's one thing an anti-depressant shouldn't do, it's cause "thoughts of suicide"....
Seems like that sort of defeats the whole purpose....
Kinda like if a "common side of affect" of aspirin was "severe headaches"....
Or a fire extinguisher that has a tendency to explode into flames when used....
If someone goes from feeling blue and having trouble getting up and facing the day, to feeling like sucking on the business end of a Winchester after they start taking an "anti-depressant", they really aren't headed in the right direction...

Re: You're all mad!
Been on:
Paxil
Prozac
Zoloft
Celexa
Cymbalta
Presently on the last. Have suffered SAD unmedicated/untreated since my teens, then a handful of major depressive episodes over the years starting with one in graduate school. Largely to blame for all but the first was my insistence to get off the meds. I've done well for many months at a time meds-free, but always end up back in the deep dark place absent any particular external stimuli (other than residual baggage from an abusive childhood and a particularly traumatic event in my late teens).
I expect to be on SSRIs going forward, unless menopause triggers some fundamental change in my brain chemistry. Or, unless I can find a mental health professional willing to treat me with MDMA - I've read that results of one or two sessions with it can be profoundly positive and long-lasting.

That's a maintenance dose if true, good for you mate.Crackpot wrote:I think 20mg I could give you a sure answer but then I'd have to go and look at the bottle.
Despite all my "interesting" quirks, and propensity to (over)indulge in recreational substances, I have never ever been prescribed any psychiatric meds. (I cannot say I haven't "taken" any though.) Having worked in mental health since the dark ages, I can honestly say I see the value in these medications when prescribed properly.
I find the whole idea of advertising them really dangerous.

I don't do TLAs did do talking therapies don't really help when you already realize you're being irrational. and then there's all those other times when i;m dealing with one (or more) of the assholes in this world.

Re: You're all mad!
I told you what I didn't like about talk therapy; that you can talk, but they aren't really listening. It's supposed to be an hour of therapy, but: they keep you in their chair for 45 min. talking to yourself (why are you paying them, then?) ...and spending the last 15min. scheduling your next appointment, and reading them your insurance card numbers.

People who are severely depressed cannot summon the energy to ideate, plan, and carry out suicide. Once the level of depression is reduced they can. That is why treating depression is a risk factor for suicide.

Re: You're all mad!
It was something I was warned about when prescribed anti-depressants. I remember telling my doctor beforehand, when he asked about suicidal ideation, that I simply didn't care enough about whether I lived or died to go to the trouble of committing suicide. It was something he warned me to be aware of as I began treatment; fortunately I was one of those whose depression lifted without going through that stage.
