Y'all know I'm not against medical marijuana, but...

Post by Scooter »

...the idiot box was making noise in the background, and someone said they had been approved for a medical marijuana card to deal with the symptoms of, wait for it...

ASTHMA!!!

Wouldn't that sort of be like treating a broken leg by banging it repeatedly with a hammer?

Sheesh, you should see the ads in the Metro, down here in Cali.

'Doctors' advertising they'll find something wrong with you, so that you can be eligible for a State Medical Marijuana Card.

Not all of it is prescribed to be smoked Scoot... There is another method of consumption. ;)
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Mentioning Brownies after plugging has a certain "eww" factor.

A co-worker where I used to work, used the "plugging" method of administration.

He claimed he liked the buzz better than smoking mj.

Odd-sounding, isn't it? And yet it appears to be immediately helpful for asthma attacks -- sort of an organic emergency inhaler:
Effects of Marijuana Smoking on Pulmonary Function and Respiratory Complications
A Systematic Review

Conclusions Short-term exposure to marijuana is associated with bronchodilation. Physiologic data were inconclusive regarding an association between long-term marijuana smoking and airflow obstruction measures. Long-term marijuana smoking is associated with increased respiratory symptoms suggestive of obstructive lung disease.

I've been advised to seek a medical marijuana card to treat my longstanding meds-resistant migraine disease.

I've not pursued that option to date, because of my concerns about the effect of smoking the stuff.

The few* times I smoked the stuff in my youth, I experienced an almost instantaneous effect. I've never ingested the stuff via a brownie delivery device. Can anybody speak to how quickly it takes effect via that method?

It takes a while 3/4 hour to an hour, depending on when you last ate.

A couple of friends of mine at UNi wanted to try some, but were very anti smoking (anti all drugs in fact, but wanting to "see what it was all about.") My then girlfriend and me cooked up some strong brownies. Nothing happened. So we did some cheese on toast with "extra herbs".

Neil spent all night lying on the floor , holding on to the carpet in case he fell off.

The THC takes longer to digest, but you can get a good high from other wise schwag smoke.

I've heard some folks say the ingested high is ultimately more intense. True, or not?

I'm not sure ingested THC would effectively address migraine, as I've read it's important to get the marijuana effects going in the prodomal stage of migraine, and my experience of that stage is usually short-lived.

At this point with my migraines ramping up to 2-3x weekly again, I'm ready to try just about anything.

Smoking gives the best dose-response control for users.

I would start with that.

Eating it means that if you made a 'mistake' about dosage yer not going to find out about it for a long time.

I'd say yup, it intensifies the high, which is why you don't want to use skunky (high THC content) herb, as an ingredient. You'll have too long and too extreme of a high, if you're just looking for pain-killing properties.

If you don't want to smoke it, because of the health concerns; there's always 'vaporizing'.
