We live in a world gone mad..

Vanessa Gibbs, 17, claims the Transportation Security Administration stopped her at the security gate because of the design of a gun on her handbag.

Gibbs said she had no problem going through security at Jacksonville International Airport, but rather, when she headed home from Virginia.

"It's my style, it's camouflage, it has an old western gun on it," Gibbs said.

But her preference for the pistol style didn't sit well with TSA agents at the Norfolk airport.

Gibbs said she was headed back home to Jacksonville from a holiday trip when an agent flagged her purse as a security risk.

"She was like, 'This is a federal offense because it's in the shape of a gun,'" Gibbs said. "I'm like, 'But it's a design on a purse. How is it a federal offense?'"

After agents figured out the gun was a fake, Gibbs said, TSA told her to check the bag or turn it over.

By the time security wrapped up the inspection, the pregnant teen missed her flight, and Southwest Airlines sent her to Orlando instead, worrying her mother, who was already waiting for her to arrive at JIA.

BOSTON (CBS) – A 7-year-old boy is being investigated by his South Boston elementary school for possible sexual harassment after kicking another boy in the crotch.

The first grader’s mother, Tasha Lynch, says she was shocked by the school’s decision.

“He’s 7 years old. He doesn’t know anything about sexual harassment,” she said.

Lynch’s son, Mark Curran, said the boy that he kicked had been bullying him on the school bus ride home from Tynan Elementary last week.

“He just all of a sudden came up to him, choked him. He wanted to take his gloves, and my son said, ‘I couldn’t breathe, so I kicked him in the testicles,’” said his mother.

Lynch described a phone call she received from the school explaining that the case will be treated like sexual harassment, due to what it considers inappropriate touching.

“‘Your son kicked a little boy in the testicles. We call that sexual harassment,’” Lynch said the school told her.

She said she’s been asked to attend a disciplinary hearing at the school Monday.

A Boston Public Schools spokesperson said officials are investigating, but won’t comment further, since it’s a private matter.

Lynch wants an apology and better supervision on the school bus to prevent such fights among students.

“He couldn’t breathe. He was trying to defend himself,” she said. “I don’t find that sexual harassment. I find that defending himself.”

Supply teacher suspended for giving pupil ride home

Teacher Martin Davis suspended for giving a lift home to a 17-year-old pupil who had forgotten his bus fare.

Martin Davis, 58, thought he was doing a good turn by dropping the boy off but, instead of being praised for making sure the teenager got home safely, he was put under investigation for gross misconduct.

Mr Davis, a maths and science supply teacher for 23 years, is attempting to appeal against the decision by the recruitment agency through which he was employed.

He said: “I still can’t believe what’s happened. I was just trying to do this boy a favour and now I could be out of a job.”

Mr Davis had been a support worker at Tyne Metropolitan College in Newcastle since September, giving one-to-one support to boys with dyslexia on a preparation for employment course.

On Nov 18, a boy approached him after school and said he did not have money for his bus fare home.

“I said that because he lived on my route home I would give him a lift,” said Mr Davis, who has two children. “A week later one of the office staff at the college pulled me to one side, having heard about me giving the boy a lift, and said it was a stupid thing to do because I was opening myself to all sorts of allegations.

“I said I was sorry and she just told me not to do it again, and that seemed to be the end of the matter.”

Mr Davis was called by the Brook Street recruitment agency and told he would no longer be needed at the school because he had committed gross misconduct.

He said: “I spoke to the class tutor and she was devastated. I also spoke to the boy in question to say goodbye and he was upset and angry about what was happening because he said I had been a great help to him.”

On Tuesday, Mr Davis argued his case with staff at the employment agency but was told he had been “dismissed” and there was “no way back”. “I was very much under the impression I had been sacked for gross misconduct,” he said.

Women touting for customers on a rural highway outside Els Alamus near Lleida in Catalonia have been told to don the yellow fluorescent bibs or pay fines of 40 euros (£36) under road traffic laws.

Police claim the sex workers on the LL-11 road are not being specifically targeted because of what they do but because they posed a danger to drivers.

The prostitutes are in breach of 2004 law which states pedestrians on major highways and hard shoulders must wear the high visibility garments.

A spokesman for the regional police force, the Mossos d'Esquadra said: "In the past couple of months the prostitutes have been fined for two reasons: for not wearing the reflective jacket and for creating danger on the public highway."

The move follows recent legislation introduced by Els Alamus town hall to ban prostitutes from offering sex for sale in public urban areas. The mayor Josep Maria Bea has been accused of mounting a campaign to drive the sex workers out of the area.

A report in Saudi Arabia has warned that if Saudi women were given the right to drive, it would spell the end of virginity in the country.

The report was prepared for Saudi Arabia's legislative assembly, the Shura Council, by a well-known conservative academic.

Though there is no formal ban on women driving in Saudi Arabia, if they get behind the wheel, they can be arrested.

Saudi women have mounted several campaigns to try to overturn the ban.

Aside from the practical difficulties it creates, they say it is also illogical as in trying to keep them under family control and away from men, it actually puts them in daily contact with a male driver.

The issue has received huge international attention.

Some Saudi women feel it has attracted too much interest, obscuring other equally important issues.

As part of his careful reform process, King Abdullah has allowed suggestions to surface that the ban might be reviewed.

This has angered the conservative religious elite - a key power base for any Saudi ruler.

Now, one of their number - well-known academic Kamal Subhi - has presented a new report to the country's legislative assembly, the Shura.

The aim was to get it to drop plans to reconsider the ban.

The report contains graphic warnings that letting women drive would increase prostitution, pornography, homosexuality and divorce.

A Saudi woman who has campaigned for women drivers told the BBC that the report was completely mad.

She said the head of the Shura had assured women campaigners that he was still open to hearing the case for lifting the ban.

A man from Nyköping in eastern Sweden has been denied a power wheelchair despite having had both of his legs amputated as the local health authority remained "uncertain if the impairment was permanent".

The man had his legs amputated after a long struggle with diabetes, but despite being unable get about, his application for a power wheelchair has been denied.

“I was bitterly disappointed in the local authorities. I don’t feel I got the support I deserve,” Evert Stefansson told The Local.

Evert Stefansson had struggled with his health for a long time. As a long-suffering diabetic his kidneys have taken a beating, as has his eyesight.

About a year ago, his condition took a turn for the worse when his toe suddenly went black.

He was rushed to hospital where they had no other choice than to amputate his leg. Within a year, they had to take his other leg too.

Since then Evert has experienced some difficulty in getting about.

He might be able to walk short distances again with prosthetic legs, but that will take up to a year, according to his wife Siv.

Siv, also on early retirement due to a bad back, told The Local how she is forced to help her husband with everything and how he remains completely dependent on her.

You know the one story that made me think it was a mad world this weekend?

The rape of the one-month-old baby boy.

I am in two minds as to whether I want the poor little bugger to survive, or quickly depart this cruel world he was born into.
Bah!

Of course I had to go find that story, and now I want to vomit.

Poor wee thing.

I can see why a mob was threatening violence over this incident. I hope the perpetrator gets the longest sentence possible under UK law, once tried & convicted.

A badly executed hanging would be my preference.

Whatever it takes to depart feeling in a similar way to the wee mite.

Did you really have to quote it?

It might as well have written:

I was wondering what her response was to her exposing herself as someone who quotes youtubes PMs in unrelated threads. (or to put another way; being so fucking retarded she doesn't know what buttons to press to make a PM.)

Obviously when you do that the correct response is some sort of racist attack in a different thread!

Well at least it got her my attention....shudder.... :damn: :crap: :yaw:

What constitutes a "control freak" in your world Lo?

You really seem to misuse the term at every opportunity.

In fact, as you continually act in a way that makes many people place you on ignore, and you relish that people no longer read your words, you would fit that definition better than those you try to pin it on.

Jess sayin', chicka.

Well modestly, 'my world' is known as reality and I share it with lots of folks.
What part of the above demonstration of control freak by Gob, don't you understand?
That was a very clear example of someone making rules for other people, he won't himself follow. In your case, it's not listening to answers, you don't want to hear.
That's why you keep asking the same questions over and over.
...but you don't have to believe me, you can google it.

I have googled it Lo. In reality a control freak is:
n
(Psychology) a person with an obsessive need to be in control of what is happening
By Gob asking people not to quote you and then quoting you himself because he couldn't believe the depth of your racist attack does not fit in with the actual definition of "control freak".

There is nothing about rules or breaking them in the actual definition of "control freak".

Tthe reason I keep asking the same questions, is because you have never given me the courtesy of a response.

So, whatever you think the word means Lo, in reality, you are actually wrong.

You're welcome BTW. I am glad to have been able to clear up your misconception.
Bah!
