Me again, asking for free mechanical advice . . .
Re: Me again, asking for free mechanical advice . . .
Yeah, we heard all of that, but a four-cylinder engine with 175,000 miles is in no danger of premature anything.
And he gets 32mpg going to and from work (the bastard).
In fact he has been hoping the engine would die so he could talk his wife into buying a new car.

Hey I saw it at $3.15 in a couple of unbranded places (cash only) near me. That's almost into the $2s. I'm wondering if we might hit $2.99 again this winter.Jarlaxle wrote:It can...running excessively rich will hurt an engine. It also, of course, wastes fuel, not a good thing at $3.20/gallon.

Isn't it interesting how easily the oil companies have gotten us accustomed to this new normal. We're grateful to be paying amounts that we would have been outraged about a few years ago.

They certainly have us over a "barrel"...

We all squealed like stuck pigs.
Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Jarl, that's right next to where I grew up! Wasn't aware that you are a fellow Masshole.

£1.39 a litre here which = $5.11 a gallon US.
If you can keep your head while those around you are losing theirs, you may have misjudged the situation.

I was just there on Thursday. Hearing in Taunton Superior. Love that courthouse! Where do you work around there? Do you read the Taunton Gazette?Jarlaxle wrote:Guinevere wrote:Hey I saw it at $3.15 in a couple of unbranded places (cash only) near me. That's almost into the $2s. I was born/raised in North Dighton. My early passion for reading was fed at Readmore Books of Rt. 44, I went as a kid to the dog track in Raynham with my dad. I've got stories for every landmark you pass in that area.
Ah, home. I miss it!

I drive a truck out of one of the industrial parks. I do not read the Gazette.Guinevere wrote:I was just there on Thursday. Hearing in Taunton Superior. Love that courthouse! Where do you work around there? Do you read the Taunton Gazette?
And I drove right past the courthouse on Thursday. Taunton Green is a real trip. And by "a real trip", I mean "a monumental pain in the ass."

I didn't go! Was working on trial prep all weekend - of course the Defendant decided today to plead, on the eve of trial.
I have choir tonight, but I'll stop by AutoZone tomorrow & let y'all know. Still running great!

Question BSG on the days the car was running poorly was it wet outside? If so your ignition wires may be arcing causing the car to miss fire. One way to determine if it is the wires is to open the hood at night with the engine running and use a spray bottle to put a little watter on the plugs and look for electric arcs. If it arcs you know it is plug wires.

I went out to my car at lunchtime, planning to go home, eat, then go to AutoZone - among a number of other errands.
After I finished eating roast chicken for lunch, I got back into the car and BING! the 'check engine' light is OUT.
All better now.
