RIP, Marm
RIP, Marm
I am typing this with tears in my eyes. Marmaduke, my beloved St. Bernard, is gone. He died last night, apparantly in his sleep, in his favorite spot on the porch. Liz found him when she went to go jogging.

Re: RIP, Marm
I'm so sorry.
I'm not religious as such, but I find this a nice thought all the same. I hope it's a comfort for you...
Time to Go
The time has come I think you know
the Lord is calling so I must go
I love you so much; I wish it wasn't so
I wish I could stay; I don't want to go
You're the best family a dog ever had
so kind and gentle, never mean or mad
I'll never forget the day that we met
I was so lucky to become your pet
You opened your door and showed me your heart
I'll never forget you; we'll never part
You loved me and cared for me over the years
you taught me everything and took away my fears
The Lord is calling now I must go
but before I go I want you to know
I know it hurts to lose a friend
but I'll always be with you even to the end.

Life is like photography. You use the negative to develop.

So very sorry for your loss, Jarlaxle.
The Rainbow Bridge
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.
For me, it is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Very sorry for your loss, Jarl...
It's been clear from your posts that this is a very painful time of the year for you, and for this to happen is really terrible.
Again, you have my deepest sympathy.

Re: RIP, Marm
You and Marm, were very fortunate to have each other. I'm truly sorry for your loss, and I'm touched that you have such a big heart to hold him in it. I'm sure he had the best possible life as a part of your family, and you were both better people for it.
Vaya con Dios.

Jarl, I'm so so sorry. I'm sure he had a wonderful life with you.

Re: RIP, Marm
Take comfort in the fact that you gave him a loving family and a place to live. You couldn't have done any better than that.
