The Addams annivers’ry ...
To celebrate the centennial of the late, great cartoonist’s birth, Google today features a deft ghoulish “Doodle” in honor of Charles Addams, the longtime New Yorker magazine contributor who was a master of the macabre and a brilliant wit of the weird.
Of course, to many fans, Addams is best known for his namesake cartoon family that has leapt from page to soundstage to Broadway stage. Long after its single-panel creation, “The Addams Family” enjoys an entertainment immortality befitting the otherwordly brood.
Addams’s inspired tribe — headed by the wealthy, mustachioed Gomez and alabaster, raven-locked wife Morticia — has enjoyed an afterlife of several generations. Even the spooky, ooky lyrics and finger-snapping tune from the ‘60s TV show — which featured the “misadventures of a blissfully macabre family” — seem destined to hum in human brains for eons, an earworm for all eternity.
To pay tribute to Addams and his Family, Google’s search homepage spotlights Gomez and Morticia in the front of the logo’s “G”; Cousin Itt holding the “O”; young Pugsley in the “G” of a guillotine next to sister Wednesday (whose favorite toy was Marie Antoinette); towering butler Lurch grasps the ”L”; and Uncle Fester chomps down on the “E.”

As it should, Dales!

Wow, that's the original label, have you noticed that now Samuel Adams is smiling, and that his arm changes position about every year?
Re: A Hundred Year Old Adams
Until about a month ago, the Boston Lager had a totally different label: it was a smaller portrait, with a "25 Years: 1986-2011" banner.

As with most things in life, there are likes and dislikes.
rube, must've gotten shamelessly drunk one night at a UCSC frat party and would prefer not to be reminded of that rather embarrassing moment in his life.
No biggie, there are numerous drunken moments while I attended SDSU that I'd rather forget.

Sam is a classic go-to beer. 25 years ago, we used to bring it back to Baltimore from Boston. Who would have thunk it would become the national brand it is now. Sure, its changed, but it is still a quality beverage, and a local success story. We all should be so lucky.

Boston Beer is now the largest American-owned beer company. Which is a bit depressing.

UCSC did not have fraternities at that time.dales wrote:As with most things in life, there are likes and dislikes.

My drugs of choice at that time were pot and distilled alcohol (the drink of health! all the nasty fusel oils are distilled out). And the only bad hangover of my life was at 16.
Lager is still nasty pisswater (like pilsener). Should only be given to death row inmates. Ale is good for you!

Re: A Hundred Year Old Adams
Their trademark is their Boston Lager, but Boston Beer has plenty of others. Boston Ale, cranberry Lambic, "Black and Brew" (coffee stout), Imperial Bock...the spring beers (white ale) should be out soon.

Beer and fruit should never be mixed. For those who want alcohol and fruit together there are alcopops. Leave the damn beer alone!
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
