It is time to stand up for your country.

Quit sulking Dave. You're acting like a petulant child.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
The principle espoused by Nixon-Kissinger and thereon on Republican administrations is explicitly imperialist:liberty wrote:It is It is time to stand up for your country. Do you agree with Scooter? Is the United States of America an imperialist nation?

Canada and Australia are not "subordinate states" of anything; they are not in any way subject to the laws of the United Kingdom; they are two of 16 states, including the UK, that have a common Crown. The Statute of Westiminster actually did mean something.dgs49 wrote:we have no COLONIES, and have no subordinate states, in the sense that Canada and Australia are subjects of the Queen

Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
Having a "common Crown" and "not subject to" are rather a bizarre juxtaposition of concepts, in my humble opinion.
Who is that lady on your currency?
Not that I give a shit one way or another. I was simply making that point that England was (and probably still is) an "imperialist" country. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
But then, definitions don't mean a lot here.

Says the guy claiming our current President isn't really black because he doesn't meet some made up definition.dgs49 wrote:But then, definitions don't mean a lot here.
Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
The lady on our currency is the Queen of Canada. In her other realms, she is the Queen of Australia, the Queen of the Bahamas, the Queen of Belize, the Queen of Jamaica, the Queen of New Zealand, etc., all of which are fully sovereign states, none of which is subject to the laws of any other state. If you claim that Canada, Australia, etc. are subject states of the United Kingdom because they share a common Crown, then you must also claim that the United Kingdom is a subject of each of the other 15 Commonwealth realms, for the same reason.

Scooter, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt even you until they prove themselves to be a liar, a Bill Clinton. If you say you didn’t vote, well then ok, I accept it.Scooter wrote:Gee, looking at the results, looks like folks don't care to "stand uip" with you on this issue.
And contrary to your lie:I did not vote. Perhaps an admin has a way of confirming that if you are not man enough to admit it.liberty wrote:BTW scooter voted yes.

Gee., thanks lib, that's ever so magnanimous of you.

It is called the Golden Rule. I know it seems corny to some, but there are those that believe in it.Scooter wrote:Gee., thanks lib, that's ever so magnanimous of you.

Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
I see that four people have voted that the US is a fascist imperial nation that takes what it wants from weaker less powerful nations. Well I have a question to ask you: If you believe that, why is that you are not a member of the Weather Underground, the SLA or some other liberal freedom fighting organization? Why are you not assassinating fascist police pigs and other symbols of the oppressive state? Does not a moral person have a duty to resist evil where ever they may find it?
Perhaps I have this all wrong. What is your definition of an imperialist nation, one that is just, loves, and giving? That does not sound like imperialism to me.

No they haven't, that was not the poll question. That was a ridiculous exaggeration of the poll question.liberty wrote:I see that four people have voted that the US is a fascist imperial nation that takes what it wants from weaker less powerful nations.
You are assuming that those four votes came from Americans. Why?Well I have a question to ask you: If you believe that, why is that you are not a member of the Weather Underground, the SLA or some other liberal freedom fighting organization? Is it not just as (if not more) likely that they were cast by people from elsewhere? People who might have a more objective view of the US than some Americans?

Fixed that for you...You are assuming that those four votes came from Americans. Why?

Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
Your mind is a vacant lot. No one voted that "the US is a fascist imperial nation that takes what it wants from weaker less powerful nations."liberty wrote:I see that four people have voted that the US is a fascist imperial nation that takes what it wants from weaker less powerful nations. And the SLA were not a liberal organization.
You are amazingly stupid.

Sean, I have to compliment you. You had the opportunity to attack me as an individual but instead you attacked what I had to say, which is always one’s right. Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
Thank you lib but there is nothing superior about it. I had no reason to attack you personally and so didn't.
Now answer my question before I let you have both barrels you complete and utter bastard!

So you prefer the coddling-liberal treatment? Maybe what you need is more a breath of fresh air and less pandering?

Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
You are right Sean, I had no way of knowing who the voters were, but I was doing the writing so it was my right to assume they were Americans. I am convinced that many of the people that exhibited such hatred and contempt for the United States during Vietnam era didn’t disappear, they are still out there someplace. I also believe that many passed on their beliefs to their children. So the United States has internal enemies.liberty wrote:Sean wrote:No they haven't, that was not the poll question. In my opinion, both the SLA and the Weather underground had at least thousands of supporters all over the country.
Also, there is nothing to stop foreigner from being in either organization, they just might not be as active.

Re: It is time to stand up for your country.
"Leftist" or "Left-wing" might have been better, Lib...I think what you were trying to convey is that they sprang from the left end of the political spectrum, and that is of course true.
(Of course rube might still have gotten it wrong; as we all know history ain't his strong suit. It's entirely possible that he believes that the SLA was a right-wing organization; or even that he has no idea at all what the SLA was.)
