at the Fat Duck today ...

Post by The Hen »

Our lunch is in ten minutes.

We just met Heston Blumenthal and I shook his hand and had my picture taken with him.

I can die a happy Hen now. Who cares what the food tastes like?

:D

Right I need a food review as soon as possible OK!

Also if you're still in the area tomorrow try The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, Tom Kerridge just won two Michelin stars and does a very reasonable set lunch for £20

I certainly will Daisy.

However, as the meal took 4 3/4 hours to get through, I don't want to rush through my review on the limited time I am allowing myself to go n line on these hols.

Sufficed to say, my great mate Hest ( ;) ) is pure genius.

Gob has photos of all the courses and these will also be uploaded later.

The Hatch was crying, and I laughed uproariously, whilst eating his "Sounds of the Sea".

What? Everyone is guaranteed to have a spare tire before they leave?
Sometimes it seems as though one has to cross the line just to figger out where it is

Not likely, with the portions they serve in most of those joints....

Wow -- Hen you look fabulous and so very happy.

I think a new name is warranted for the hatchling -- she has definitely hatched. What a lovely young woman (which we already knew based on all you've told us, but she's got the looks and the legs to go with her fabulous brain and incredible spirit)!

Thanks Guin, such nice things to say about my two lovely ladies! Fortunately for all, the ugly bugger stayed safely behind the camera. Both Hen and Hatch were so taken by meeting and speaking with their culinary hero, it took them both a little while to get over their encounter.

That really is a lovely picture, ditto what Guin said. Is Blumenthal actually in the kitchen, doing stuff? (If so, what?) Also -- I'm still waiting for the review!

He told us he would be popping in and out of the kitchens at both the Fat Duck and The Hind (his pub across the road) but with his celebrity, and multiple restaurants, his role is more innovation and supervision these days.

He's doing a tour down under soon.

Oh...

I thought it was Harry Hill.

;)
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

That would be the best place for you, eh! :nana
Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.

God that would be scary, cooking for him.

I would have to go with doing an Indian night. I do a mean Rogan Josh and a none too shabby Goan Fish curry.

Hahaha, scary but you'd do it! That's what I love about you Ozzies, the can-do, have-a-fair-go attitude!

BTW, I love rogan josh. Do you do your own garam masala or do you buy at the store? Never had Goan fish curry.

I do my own garram masala. I find that you just can't get things to taste proper unless you get back to the clean, clear basics of the flavours.
