So Foxboro Takes On Hackensack In Indiana This Weekend....

Post by Lord Jim »

And my question is, is there anyone here who gives a shit? (I'm a Redskins fan, but I completely lost all interest when the Niners blew it in overtime two weeks ago...)

Presumably Guin cares who wins...and maybe Sue...(I expect Oldr does; sure would be nice to hear from him)

Anybody else care about The Northeast Shuttle Superbowl?

It is always appropriate to root for the underdog.

I won't lose any sleep over it one way or another, and I certainly won't watch more than a few minutes of it, but I will be gratified if the Giants pull off the upset.

I don't think NFL or Super Bowl fans are as fixated on where the teams come from as they are in other sports. My guess is that ratings will be through the roof regardless of the fact that both teams originate in the Northeast.

Yes, I'm watching and rooting -- I do enjoy watching the Pats and I love TB12. Not just because he is damned handsome, but because he is incredibly hardworking, humble, and smart. I've learned more about football by listening to him on the radio on Patriots Mondays (AM sports show, the day after a game), than by all the years of watching the games with friends and family.

The Pats may be 3 point favorites, but no one is taking it for granted, or assuming they will win. It's a pretty fired up and excited but humble lot up here.

I think that's become true particularly of The Super Bowl....

The Super Bowl has really transcended the sport itself. There are millions of people who watch The Super Bowl who don't even follow football; (hell, there are some people who watch it just to see the commercials) it has become a sort of national cultural/social event...A secular national holiday of sorts, that provides an excuse for friends to gather together for a party...

This can be attributed to the marketing genius of Pete Rozelle, who has to rank as one of the greatest promoters in American history; right up there with PT Barnum...

When the owners look at the value of their clubs, and the players look at their multi-million dollar pay stubs, and all the other thousands of businesses large and small, and their employees, from the TV networks to the pennant sellers who earn money today because of what the NFL has become look at their share of the take, they should give a big "thank you" to Pete.

I'll check it out from time to time, but I have to say that this will probably be more popular at Stately LJ Manor this year:

I love the Puppy Bowl!

My cat, however, is completely uninterested. She watches the Chicken Channel ( the view of our neighbors chicken coop).

For a cat Kristina, that's "reality television" at it's finest... :D

Another favorite is "Goldfish Bowl Cam".....

We just got back from the beach, (another beautiful day in paradise; 68 degrees, sunny, gentle breeze...WE NEED RAIN!!!) and I flicked on the game....

9-3 Hackensack, with about eight minutes left before halftime, (Madonna is headlining this one...Gee I wonder if she'll do something really edgy and daring like make fun of the Catholic Church?)

Four field goals and Madonna....

Foxboro finally scored a touchdown....nice drive, 98 yards,,, now they're up 10-9 with eight second left in the half...

It's about time....

This game was in danger of becoming almost as boring as the most exciting cricket match....

Actually, there was a safety against New England & a TD by NYG.

But I have no clue what Madonna can do other than jump around and make a good AARP commercial.

Her costar, Cee-Lo looked like an extremely massive glittered raisin.

Madonna should have been performing 'Heard it through the Grapevine.'

She still looks pretty good, especially for 52!

AT least, unlike last year, the show had:
Proper sound mixing.
Vocals not cut off.
A performer who could actually SING.

I'm impressed she was able to do the full dance routine...she pulled her hamstring last week.

Madonna wasn't singing. She was lip syncing.

That Richard Simmons lookalike tightrope act was hilarious.

It was quite a production though. I can appreciate a good performance even though I'm not a fan.

Madonna was terrific - that's the first halftime show I've enjoyed in FOREVER. :ok

That final quarter was gut-roiling and I'm sick that the NJ Giants won. Back to ignoring football until the next time the Patriots make the SuperBowl.
