I didn't live in Redwood City until the 80's.

When you lived(?) here it probably looked like this...

Here's the low down on the Red Rabbit, Joe.
Ferrienn Stanford "Dave" Davis

Ferrienn Stanford "Dave" Davis, 84, a resident of Menlo Park, died Oct. 30 of complications of lung disease.
He was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Portland and graduated from Dartmouth College at the age of 20. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and eventually moved to California.

He worked as a marketing and advertising executive for Hills Bros. Coffee and then designed and opened the nation's first automated fast food restaurant, The Red Rabbit, in Redwood City in the early 1960s. He then served as a traffic manager at Hewlett Packard Co. for 14 years, retiring in 1993.

<snip>
And, Joe.....I did not grow up in RWC, I grew up in Belmont. I remember the Red Rabbit becuase of its coin-operated vending machine food. Yeah, I know it doesn't take much to impress a 10-year old.

That would have impressed me also.

Belmont was/is a nice town. I knew someone who lived on Winding Way up in the hills. One night a few of us got caught smoking weed under the freeway overpass by Belmont cops. They patted us down and then just let us go. It was near Christmas time and they said 'Merry Christmas' and drove off into the night.

Isn't Belmont the town where the local Fascisti on the town council passed an ordinance making it illegal for apartment dwellers to smoke in their own apartments?

It certainly is. The cops there wear Nazi uniforms nowadays.

My guess is that quad is preparing his complaint against me to file with the State Bar of Montana.
Or maybe he's making arrangements for that snow blower he was going to send me...

Or perhaps he's working on the list of people who's taxes he's going to have audited....

It was that sort of thing, (and of course the attempt to convince people that his job gave him access to some truly vile information about Joe) that really distinguished Quad and came to make him unique in the pantheon of troll history....

I can not recall anyone else who crossed over that line and tried to engage in the kind of bullying intimidation Quad did...

The message he tried to send to anyone who showed him to be full of shit was quite clear: "You better shut up about me or I will fuck up your life"

Nobody, but nobody, else that I am aware of in 16 years of forum cruising has ever done that, as far as I know, and Quad did it on a regular basis. It was how he dealt with being exposed as an ignoramus or a moron; he couldn't admit to error, and he would never back down no matter how bad the evidence was against his position, so aside from doing what people normally do who are like that, (lying about what's been said, shifting the goal posts, etc.) he would lash out with viscous threats in a blatant attempt at intimidation.

We've had other dishonest, bloviating gasbag ignoramuses with a delusional understanding of their capabilities, but we have never had another one who was a slimey enough scumbag to think they had a right to do that..... talk about coping skills issues....

Obviously, he didn't start out behaving that way; personally I suspect that getting that low ranking tech job with the Treasury department really went to his head.

He thought he was some sort of big shot and he expected everyone to be as impressed with him as he was with himself. When that didn't happen, it really got up his nose....

So he had to brag that his job gave him access to information and abilities to track people down and fuck up their lives. Since he wasn't getting the respect thought he should, he figured he could at least get people to fear him.

That didn't work either.

He also took advantage of that privacy settings glitch on the new CSB to collect as much personally identifying information about other posters as he could before it was fixed, which he saved and shared with other posters when it suited him, or would make allusions to it in his own posts, in order to stick it to posters who were on his shit list.

I had forgotten about that...

No doubt about it, the guy managed to carve out a unique niche for himself as the ultimate forum low life and alpha sleazebag....

ETA:

I recall he also threatened to publish personal information about posters on his "Enemies List" on another forum, and he would frequently post stuff about how vulnerable everybody was...hint-hint-....

It's as though he decided:

"Well if I'm gong to be an asshole, I might as well be the biggest asshole I can be. Anything worth doing is worth doing well"

And ultimately, that became his only real achievement or claim to fame around here; he succeeded in becoming the biggest asshole in the history of three forums....

Congratulations, Quad....

Lord Jim has made a very accurate summation of quad's contribution to this and to other forums in which I've seen quad post.

There's nothing I can add to it.

Stupid busybodies have nothing else to do.

By the mid 1970's Belmont was being over run with "rich I'm better than you @ssholes" who came in with the crush of transplants from all over.

We first moved there in 1958, the only stop light in town was at Ralston and El Camino Real. :D

When I occasionally go back, I make it a habit to light a cigarette and march through Carlmont Shopping Center.

F-em! :arg

Those people have spilled over into San Carlos.

At the old CSB when I used to rant about people drinking coffee while driving large 4WD SUVs around town - who probably wouldn't even know how to switch to 4WD (but wouldn't need to know) - that's who I was complaining about.

San Carlos people, that is.

btw - where's quad?

Due to his appalling slurs on Joe, Quaddriver has been banned without any fuss or fanfare. And rightly so!
