At the risk of yelling Beetlejuice...Where's Quad?

All things related to the general running of the forum - got a suggestion? Here's where it should go.

I noticed recently Quad changed his online status to hidden... (nothing wrong with that; I have mine on that setting) you can tell because if you look at his profile, the "last visited" section is blank...
No worries, quad was on here yesterday, as shown by his member details.
Gee, that's not like our Quad at all....

To lurk, and see all the mocking and condemnation he's receiving and not respond to it?

Suffering in silence was never his strong suit....

This leads me to believe that there must be some reason that Quad decided that it would be best if he weren't shooting off his toxic mouth here....

And I think we can safely rule out, "Gee, you know I've been such a prick around here, I think I'll cut these folks some slack and keep my mouth shut" as the explanation....

It would be hilarious if the explanation is that he was contacted by Timothy G & told that he is being investigated for impersonating a US Treasury employee.

That would be quad karma at work.

I wonder if he is in rehab, maybe?

If so, I hope he is successful.

That was my thought.

Drug abuse might be the ultimate explanation for his behavior.

The fact that he was active only two days ago would suggest to me that he is not in rehab. He is obviously lurking but unable or unwilling to post for some reason.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Interesting thought.

Maybe there's something else going on.

I wonder what that might be?

Nevertheless, I prefer to think that the quad is working on getting his act together and will eventually step up and accept responsibility for his bad behavior.

I still keep in touch with a bunch of the others, via Facebook or Smitty's place (which is still up and running, but the group gets smaller and older and more grumpy as the years go by).
In addition to those already mentioned by others, there's also dgs (DaveMort).

Does anyone ever go to Cartalk anymore? I go there quite often, but rarely post. The weird thing is that they all pretty much stay on topic and there are no personal attacks.

How boring is that?

I check in periodically, and post even less than I do here.

Kristina, have they re-introduced real time posting? As I recall, the final nail in the coffin for the place was when they started having every post submitted to a moderator before it was put up....

Which would explain why nothing "off topic" ever appears....

The posts go up immediately. I only go to 'Repair & Maintenance.' People get a little testy once in a while but the subject matter is strictly related to fixing cars & trucks.

Why would anyone go there for mechanical/technical advice?

If one has a specific problem with their car, post it on a site dedicated to that make/model.

I would venture a guess that the info will be more current and accurate than those two morons dish out at cartalk.

Geez, if I'm ever suffering from the level of insomnia that would make me think that would be a good idea, I can always just turn on some Leonard Cohen....

It's quicker....
