Didn't Know My Own Strength, Whitney Houston

Folk song...a superb ballad:
I dusted off my posters
Polished up my guns
Jotted down some memories...
My moments in the sun
By all rights & reasons
I should not be standin' here
I outlived my brother
By more than thirty years
Treat Gaza like Carthage.

Something in the way she moves,
Attracts me like no other lover.
Something in the way she woos me.
I don't want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

Somewhere in her smile she knows,
That I don't need no other lover.
Something in her style that shows me.
I don't want to leave her now,
You know I believe and how.

You're asking me will my love grow,
I don't know, I don't know.
Stick around, and it may show,
But I don't know, I don't know.

Something in the way she knows,
And all I have to do is think of her.
Something in the things she shows me.
I don't want to leave her now.
You know I believe and how.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Something--anything--by the Beatles makes it easy enough for me to participate here in this thread....

Now, the man on the stand he wants my vote
He’s a-runnin’ for office on the ballot note
He’s out there preachin’ in front of the steeple
Tellin’ me he loves all kinds-a people
He’s eatin’ bagels!
He’s eatin’ pizza!
He’s eatin’ chitlins!
He’s eatin’ bullshit!
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Damn. Now I'm the one who did it.

Okay, okay...Don't like early Dylan? Maybe this'll be easier: (Hint: it's the title song on the album it's on.)

She don't like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin' her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the Easter Bunny
She's my baby
I'm her honey
I'm never gonna let her go

. . . . . He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays
. . . . . I caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies
. . . . . He ain't too sharp but he gets things done
. . . . . Drinks his beer like it's oxygen
. . . . . He's my baby
. . . . . And I'm his honey
. . . . . Never gonna let him go
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

I took myself down to the Tally Ho Tavern
To buy me a bottle of beer
And I sat me down by a tender young woman
Whose eyes were as dark as her hair.
And as I was searching from bottle to bottle
For something un-foolish to say
That silver-tongued devil just slipped from the shadows
And smilingly stole her away.

I guess I am...
The fortune queen of New Orleans was brushing her cat in her black limousine
On the backseat were scratches from, marks of men her fortune she had won
I couldn't see through the tinted glass, she said "home, James" and he hit the gas
I followed her to a darkened room, she took my money, said "I'll be with you soon"

Dark Lady - Cher
I don't feel all turned on and starry eyed
I just feel a sweet contentment deep inside
Holding you at night
Just seems kind of natural and right
And it's not hard to see
That it isn't half of what it's gonna turn out to be

You'll need to google this one:
Always Is Always Forever lyrics

Always is always forever
As long as one is one
Inside yourself for your father
All is none all is none all is one

It's time we put our love behind you
The illusion has been just a dream
The valley of death and I'll find you

Now is when on a sunshine beam
So bring all the young perfection
For there us shall surely be
No clothing, tears, or hunger
You can see you can see you can be

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Aren't you supposed to identify the previously posted song & artist before you post a new one one of your own in this game?

(BTW, good guess, Crackpot.)

You're thinking of the Name that Songwriter thread! :fu

Anyway, as Sue said, you have to guess Scoot's first... :D

I was actually thinking when I posted it that it would be too easy...then again that might just be my weird taste.

dales should be old enough to remember it (that's a hint, btw).
