I just spent a half-hour using Google earth to look at before and after pictures of the areas affected by the Tsunami and earthquake. I used the locations in the photo-essay linked below as starting points but you can scan around the coast. There is a time-scale and with a little patience you can get clear pictures showing the contrast in the landscape pre- and post-. They have done a remarkable job clearing up debris and restoring roads but little has been built. A few large vessels still trapped inland where the waters dropped them.
What lessons should we learn from this? I doubt if there is a settled answer to that yet.

Apres le deluge ...
Re: Apres le deluge ...
Whatever dude. That does not explain away the fucked up children games that are being dealt by Loca. Whom I used to think was my friend. Evidently any and all people that do not fit into the pathos are expendable. That is the lesson learned here.
You, on the other hand, are on notice. Not that I liked you anyway... I will bend your mind until it breaks... This is some straight up bull Shit. And you need to be ashamed of yourself. Both of you. Tsk Tsk.
The fancy title of this thread does Not excuse the behavior that has ATTEMPTED TO DRAGGED this forum into the dust and make it Nonviable. AND WHERE IS THE GRAPH??? Because without graphs and pictures and arrows; I cannot be sure of what you are trying to convey.
That is some pure BULLSHIT>\ Fuck that@

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

What lessons?
No matter how well prepared you are, Mother Nature can still kick your ass if she decides to, and you need to live your life accordingly.
This lesson applies to everything.
You can eat healthy, exercise, take vitamins and do everything your doctor tells you, and get killed by a drunk driver or contract cancer.
You can drive a big SUV with 42 airbags and still get killed in an accident with a semi.
And from an Engineering standpoint, you have to decide what level of safety is appropriate when you design something - you can't protect against EVERYTHING - and design for a theoretical "worst" case, but the actual "worst case" can still kick your ass.
Working in Nuclear Power, for example, I've been working with a pump supplier whose pump (a reactor coolant pump) is powered by the heat of the water, so it will continue to function if the grid goes down and the backup power fails. It might have saved the reactors at Fukushima. But who knows?
What in the World is Timster talking about?

He is a lapsed Seventh-Day-Adventist. They are prone to elaborate delusions. Look into the "Urantia Book" for more of the same incoherent shit from the same source.dgs49 wrote:"...
