How to solve a problem like....

Post by Daisy »

LoCAtek?

The mediation thread is now locked.

LoCA has been asked several times during the course of the week to provide evidence of her allegations.

During this week she has variously, ignored the thread, made excuses for her lack of participation whilst still participating in other threads and now a week on has still provided zero substance to her allegations.

For the sake of the forum I am suggesting initially a one month suspension, followed by a six month probation where if she continues to stalk and harass Hen then her posting rights will be removed irrevocably.

This is not a decision that should be taken lightly, we have always striven to make this place as free as possible, sometimes to the detriment of the board.

Also if you have any other ideas or if you would have handled this any differently please let me know.

I don't see the point in dragging it out (the poll needs an "other" option)
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

One month is a long time on the interwebs.

I only ever wanted an apology from her for her lies about me. Lies that she can never provide evidence for, because they were lies.

I wonder what it was she wanted from me? I already apologized a year ago for the nine words I used from her opening email I posted that caused her grief by proving her lies.
Bah!

You were big enough to apologize even though it wasn't necessary. If someone is going to lie about the content of private communications, they have forfeited any right to confidentiality. One party to a private conversation should not be able to lie about it with impunity while the other person cannot use the truth to defend themselves.

My thoughts precisely.

So apart from an apology, which had already been given by me, what the fuck did Lo want?

For me to go back in time and NOT to prove her to be the slimy liar she is?
Bah!

I think a month is about right. If nothing else it'll prove to her that it's no all just empty threats.
I'm not sure about the 6 month probation though. There should never come a time when she can go back to her harassment and stalking.

I would also propose the following: If she takes her one month on the chin, comes back and decides to become a useful member, we should wipe the slate clean. Nobody should be allowed to use this past behaviour against her in an unrelated discussion. That wouldn't help anybody.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Very fair of you Sean.

I agree. That would be a definite FOPAW.

Thus ends the "mediation".....

By one measure it could be called a waste of time, though the process did wind up being revealing...

What it revealed, sadly, was that what folks like Sean and BSG and Scooter have been saying about LoCA for a long time are are largely accurate....

LoCa herself proved this. LoCA provided a real education about herself, and what she revealed was a really ugly side to her nature...

She asked for this mediation, and then demonstrated conclusively that the request was not sincere. She spent the whole time trying to pick fights in other threads, and she used the mediation thread, not to provide evidence to back up her charges, (apparently she has none; not just about charges that relate to things that were said at the CSB but other things that if they were true would have been easy to prove with links to quotes here.) but to toss out even more smears that she then provided no proof for...(when did Strop ever claim that he was a Doctor  )

She used the mediation thread as nothing but another vehicle to advance drama and draw negative attention to herself. She has completely destroyed her credibility. She never made the slightest attempt to back up anything she said or to say anything that might lead towards resolution.

Resolution obviously isn't and never has been on her agenda. Apparently she became extremely hurt and angry when Hen decided to break off an off board relationship, and this has led her to try to punish Hen by trolling her around in the board, and spreading lies and smears about her and her husband. This is an extremely neurotic and arrested development way to respond; it's a self-destructive impulse that she ought to seek professional help for. It's become an obsession.

We also learned from this process that in addition to becoming a troll and a smear artist, LoCa has apparently also become a cyber stalker, following Hen and Strop around to other forums... (I suspect that our old buddy Quad may have had a hand in this...that really sounds like his MO)

I don't know if it's fair to say that she wants to "destroy" the board like Quad clearly did; but she certainly seems at the least completely indifferent to the effects her behavior could have in contributing to that...

It's a terrible shame really. I remember a time when LoCA was amongst the best liked posters in our group; she didn't seem to have any critics or detractors....

She was best known for well written essay type posts that were always well received. She wasn't feuding with anybody.

But now....

What LoCA accomplished this past week was to, by her own actions and inactions, make it absolutely impossible for ANYONE to defend her.

There's no doubt to give the benefit of anymore...she has completely removed it. (Though Quad I'm sure heartily approves.)

She has even gone so far as to try to claim that the problem isn't her baiting, her thread hijacks, and her completely unsupported smears....

No, as LoCA sees it, the problem isn't her atrocious behavior, (which she barely even denies) it is the fact that she isn't being completely ignored that is the problem....

This place has obviously not become a very good outlet for her from a mental health standpoint. Whether she's suspended or not, she really should take some time away from here and seek some professional help to deal with her self destructive need to seek out negative attention and destroy relationships. (I know she doesn't have a lot of money and probably doesn't have really good insurance, but there are plenty of free mental health services available in her community)

Something some of us have been advising her of for many years.

To elaborate a little more on this point:
LoCa has apparently also become a cyber stalker, following Hen and Strop around to other forums... (I suspect that our old buddy Quad may have had a hand in this...that really sounds like his MO)
As I recall, it was Quad who was originally yammering about people getting banned at other forums...

I strongly suspect, that at least in this aspect he was in communication with LoCA....

I'm sure he would dearly love to lash out at this place, and since he can't do it himself, it would make perfect sense that he would reach out to LoCa.....

When the only person left to give you advice and support is the guy who openly admitted he wanted to destroy the place, that ought to tell you something....

I think there is someone behind both of them, pulling the strings. (Note Lo's recent attack on my professional status, claiming I have described myself as a "doctor" indeed.)

Not a Moriarty Jim, he was intelligent.
“He is the Napoleon of crime, Watson. He is the organizer of half that is evil and of nearly all that is undetected in this great city. He is a genius, a philosopher, an abstract thinker. He has a brain of the first order. He sits motionless, like a spider in the centre of its web, but that web has a thousand radiations, and he knows well every quiver of each of them. He does little himself. He only plans. But his agents are numerous and splendidly organized. Is there a crime to be done, a paper to be abstracted, we will say, a house to be rifled, a man to be removed–the word is passed to the professor, the matter is organized and carried out."
Sherlock Holmes describing his nemesis, Professor Moriarty
More a second rate intellect coupled with a narcissic manipulator of the stupid and needy.

The Wizard of Oz suits him to a T.
The Wizard is one of the characters in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Unseen for most of the novel, he is the ruler of the Land of Oz and highly venerated by his subjects. Believing he is the only man capable of solving their problems, Dorothy Gale and her friends travel to the Emerald City, the capital of Oz, to meet him. Oz is very reluctant to meet them, but eventually each is granted an audience, one by one. On each of these occasions, the Wizard appears in a different form, once as a giant head, once as a beautiful fairy, once as ball of fire, and once as a horrible monster. When, at last, he grants an audience to all of them at once, he seems to be invisible—nothing but a disembodied voice.

Eventually, it is revealed that Oz is actually none of these things, but rather an ordinary man from Omaha, Nebraska, who has been using a lot of elaborate magic tricks and props to make himself seem "great and powerful." Working as a magician for a circus, he wrote OZ (the initials of his first and middle name) on the side of his balloon for promotional purposes. One day his balloon sailed into the Land of Oz, and found himself worshipped as a great sorcerer.

I said, he admitted he was not a doctor, while flashing his credentials as being 'A member of an awarding winning mental health team'. I'm sure he does do his job of routine personal care well, but that doesn't qualify him to judge another's health. It's just unprofessional and misleading, why doesn't he just say, 'I work part-time in ward services'? instead of trying to make it sound like he's on par with PHD's?
Frankly, Jenna Marbles has much higher qualifications (she has a Masters in Sports Psychology) which is probably why she's more entertaining and has a much higher following.

If people needed to be made aware that they are NOT confiding in a certified health professional, then my sacrifice was not in vain.
Hmmm - funny how the stroppy one doesn't like it when it's information about him being posted onto a forum. Personal information? It's only what people have found by looking at stuff you've posted on the VERY PUBLIC net stroppy. Now, where have I heard that before? :DCledry_maid

I am a certified and practicing mental health professional, anyone want to see my certification?

I do not work on or in "ward services", I work, as I stated may time on the CSB and here, in a team treating kids with psychosis and schizophrenia in the community, with the aim of keeping them out of hospital.

I think it becomes ever more clear to all of us who is pulling Lo's stings here..
