Living Life Lesbian

Post by loCAtek »

Your help, hope, history on raising girls homo.

My roommate's daughter has completely outted herself ...completely, but that's not the problem.

The problem is helping her with habitual harassment, as it could happen, here. I mean; this is California, and she (I'll call her RMD1, for Roommate's Daughter 1) hasn't had serious issues with her sexuality before; her Mom is cool; her school is accepting...

BUT!

BUT!

We were all watching vids one weekend, starting with Swift Taylor (who had been bullied for being tall) and moving onto 'Rage Against the Machine', who showed a strong homo-bullying message in one of thier vids; and RMD1 was made a little upset.
'Why are they against people like me!?' she cried, 'This hurts!'

Mom and I assured her, that whatever the reason: height or sexuality- folks can be cruel, but you can face it!

You can- you're cool!

...any other words of advice, to the emerging lesbo?

Obviously she needs to realize that, RATM are one of the forefront bands in giving out anti-bullying and anti- homophobia messages. That may be a start.

I'm not minimizing the girl's situation, and you didn't mention the girls' age, but that's just a part of growing up that she's going to have to deal with. The best any family member or friend can do is encourage her to be true to herself.

Kids have been getting bullied since kids were invented. Some learn to grow strong and others become victims. She should be encouraged to make and keep good friends and get involved in sports, music or something else that she likes. She will eventually earn the love and respect she craves and the bullies will go away.

That's my advice and worth every penny you've paid for it.

Let her know that there will always be people in her life that will focus on her sexuality, and not who she is as a person.

Let her know that some will even potentially be close to her.

She should ignore that focus and concentrate on what makes her happy as a person.

It will be hard. She potentially will get sick of the focus being on who she loves instead of who she is. Eventually that attention will drop and people will get back to judging her for who she is.
Bah!

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

This might be a good resourse for her and anyone close to her to keep in mind.
The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

The first guy who seZ, 'he's a lesbian trapped in a man's body' is getting cyber bitch-slapped!

AnywayZ, RMD1 is now 16 yrs old, and I've lived with her for two. (Man, how time flies)
By her own description, she is not a 'girly-girl', that is: she prefers jeans and duct-tape, to heels and nail polish ...and I always liked that about her; a girl after my own heart. Why, for Christmas as a stocking stuffer, I got her a roll of camouflage-colored sealing tape!

...no wait, I should specify that she doesn't like pink nail polish. On some days, she'll paint her nails black, and dye her hair dark too. It not that she's Goth, instead RMD1 is into Anime Cosplay; and in that way she is VERY creative. She has her own box of fabrics and materials that she's always fashioning into ears, tails and odd accessory-wear like you'll find in Japanese cartoons. (Mom thinks she's a better seamstress, than she is!) Of course, when those mechanical 'Cat Ears' came out, I shared the YouTube with her.
I honestly think that's where she gets the majority of the social support for her sexuality; from the Yaoi- the Manga (Comics), Fan Art and Animation from Japan, that's geared towards gay kids. No, we're not talking Hentai porn here, it's all this adolescent Soap Opera stuff, but it just so happens that many of the characters are homosexual teenagers, yay!

I'll save all those links, in spite of her confidence and creativity, you never know when prejudice might hit you. Frankly, there have been times when I, La Loca have been accused derogatorily of being lesbian, just because I wouldn't date a co-worker. 'Ah, you work and dress like a man, but you won't go out with me- you must be GAY!' ...there've been a few guys, who actually get quite angry in your face, like that; such romantics, 'eh?
Lucia the Lesbian, would tell me that she had to bust a few heads in her day, because she openly admitted it.

What I like most is- RMD1 refuses to label herself, she's never called herself a lesbian; if the topic comes up, she's just 'A girl who likes girls' 8-) I should tell her about the trend Jenny Marbles is starting of just calling everyone 'sexuals' :D

Mucho props to Mom of course, she's not just accepting, she just doesn't care. That her girls are happy and healthy is all she cares about, and frankly RMD1 has great taste in Girlfriends. 'Koizumi' is smart, kind and already responsible enough to hold down a real job ...plus, she likes bunnies. Then again, who doesn't like bunnies? ...but I digress. Interestingly, she's also very overweight, not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm once again, delighted that homo-ladies aren't so obsessed with body image, just to please men.

The reason for going into all this detail, is that chances are, these girls will be living and growing up here for years to come. I haven't told the RoomMom yet, but word on the street is that the low income housing she was waiting for, isn't likely to become available until long after the kids have turned 18. They say the list is SEVEN years long and rising!

Brace yourself sexuals, but La Loca has turned into an Auntie!

I see. Just because you asked for input into this issue, doesn't actually mean you wanted input into this issue.

It was just for story-telling purposes.

Or one might think that she was trying to find a different, and more positive, basis on which to establish a conversation and perhaps relationship.

And you, et al, are so absorbed with your own crap that you won't allow that to happen.

Well why should you? You've picked out the herd member you will revile. It takes no thought, or consciousness, to carry it out.

You obviously haven't read her other posts since she came back rubato...

Specifically the dig at Daisy, the sly dig at mental health 'professionals' and the further accusation that the board in run by "control freaks".
All completely unprovoked.

Sadly, I think that lo might be picking up where she left off.
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Certainly looks that way. The only reason it isn't more obvious is because the Hen & Gob aren't around much.

They're on one of their very rare holidays... ;)

Pay attention to what is occurring on the Board Rube.

You are absorbed so much by your own crap, that your opinion on this issue is irrelevant.

I know, not even back a week...

We regret this hijack all ready in progress to you folks who were actually enjoying this thread as it was, regardless of Hen's wishes.

So, are there rules, or are there not rules?

If there are rules, what are they and where are they posted?

Please don't try to slip them in without telling us like the new editing limit; that would be a new low in control freakiness. This thread was completely issue-free, so just answer the questions, and stop obfuscating.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled post:

Maybe you should try paying attention, for a change.

The only real focused nastiness is from you and the claque.

Loca is naive, and simple, and has a lot of issues of her own but unlike you she does not recruit a gang to go fuck with you. That's you that does that.

Why not just ignore the parts you now choose to take offense with? Are you a big enough person for that?

Or not.

LoCAtek, If this were my website, you would be banned forever and there would have been no vote involved.

I would not tolerate someone who would constantly call me a 'control freak' based on the fact that I have voiced my opinion that you are acting unstable and because some others have agreed with me.

Operating a 'free speech' board doesn't mean that the administrator has to tolerate assholes that constantly attack them personally. What it means is that people should be allowed to express their opinions on issues freely without censorship. If you can't see the difference, it's your problem, not my problem or anyone else who posts here's problem.

If you are going to continue where you left off when you were banned, then you're just plain fucking nuts.

Everyone here was willing to forgive and forget your past behavior because, I believe, most of us thought you must be going through difficult times in your life. And having known you in this forum for so long, many of us tried to help you along - but you betrayed everyone.

You need to stop blaming everyone else for your behavior.

My apologies to everyone except loCAtek for this outburst.

I have nothing more to add.
