Only a liberal could question the fundamental right to own property.

Seriously.

Since I do not live in a fairly-land where all handguns could be confiscated, thus making the population infinitely safer from felonious assault, I hereby resign from this pointless thread.

As I have made clear before, I am not a "liberal," but even if I were, how is that a valid excuse for your failure to answer a direct question? The fact that you cannot come up with an actual reason that "ownership" of "property" is somehow a "fundamental human right" speaks volumes for the weakness of your position.
GAH!

And only Captain Strawman could make such a ridiculous statement.

While at the same time greatly increasing the chances of being killed by handguns. And while not actually making things all that safer.

And the coward slinks off to find/create another thread to cause trouble in.

"property rights" is such a strange and inept lens through which to view the whole question of firearms regulation.

There is no inherent "property right" which is different for guns than it is for nitroglycerin, mercury fulminate, radioactive iodine, or even motor fuel.

You are not allowed to store thousands of gallons of motor fuel in a suburban lot even if you own it. Possession of radioactive substances is regulated, licensed and you are subject to inspection. Guns are more dangerous than the iodine we used in immunoassays back when I did forensic chemistry and should be more heavily regulated, not less.

The fact then that you live in a place where you are far MORE likely to be a victim of a felonious assault makes your delusions and points even more profoundly stupid!

Ga. granny thwarts 2 would-be robbers in shootout

Monday, April 23, 2012

(04-23) 21:01 PDT Macon, Ga. (AP) --

Authorities in Georgia say a grandmother foiled a robbery attempt by two armed men by getting into a shootout with them, injuring one man.

Police told The Telegraph (http://bit.ly/IbEZXT) that Lulu Campbell just dropped off her grandson at her daughter's house early Saturday morning when someone demanded money outside her car, threatening to shoot her.

Campbell says the man fired at her, missing. The 57-year-old fired back, striking him in the chest. Her truck sustained eight bullet holes in the hood, one in the grill. Both front side windows were destroyed. The second man fled after she shot at him.

Campbell, who owns convenience stores and gas stations, always is armed.

Police say 32-year-old Brenton Lance Spencer has been hospitalized and was charged with aggravated assault and attempted armed robbery.

Heartwarming, but meaningless. But this kind of story gets repeated endlessly by people who don't care about the facts.

The fact is that having guns in the house makes you more likely to be killed or die accidentally and the 'gun nut' states have the highest rates of gun deaths.
