Cool. This thread had nothing to do with Hen, or my issues.

If you or she want to make it that, don't blame me. Since, you and she brought it up; I asked for the posted regulation rules, that is all.
If there are none, and I'm just being arbitrarily threatened, then my control freak claims are accurate. Deal with it.

Maybe you should try paying attention, for a change.

The only real focused nastiness is from you and the claque.

Loca is naive, and simple, and has a lot of issues of her own but unlike you she does not recruit a gang to go fuck with you. That's you that does that.

Why not just ignore the parts you now choose to take offense with? Are you a big enough person for that?

Or not.

yrs,

Rube, please point out my 'nastiness'.

I thought this thread was a call for input. I realized with Lo's second post it wasn't. I made that observation and now you are jumping on me for 'nastiness'?

Remove your mote and then discuss the matter with me, otherwise, please provide your example that I have been 'nasty'.

Thanks

I am certainly not making this thread into my issue.

This is a LoCAtek story-telling thread. I noted that. I will now sit back and enjoy the tale she is to spin.

Cool, you could have done that in the first place, without all the drama, ya know? 8-)

Your observastion was irrevelent to my tale, Rube noted your irrelevance .

Deal with your own irrelevancy.

in spite of her confidence and creativity, you never know when prejudice might hit you.
Prejudice (and it counterpart, just plain ignorance) hits everyone somewhere along the path of life. We either learn and grow stronger or wither on the vine and/or play victim.

I believe that the past decade(s) where the "self esteem" of all the young'uns was more important than learning any life lessons has done a great disservice to them. Everyone gets a trophy, there are no grades for this test, et. al.

Sure extreme bullying should not be tolerated, but sticking up for yourself is also something that should be learned as one grows up.

I know nobody asked for my opinion, and I'm sorry for further derailing a thread that I very much want to stay on track, but...

I thought this was sort of nasty, or at least snarky, unnecessary, and detrimental to the thread:
The Hen wrote:I see. Just because you asked for input into this issue, doesn't actually mean you wanted input into this issue.

It was just for story-telling purposes.
I see no reason why someone can't be both telling a story *AND* asking for input, and Lo certainly didn't put down or reject any of the input that was offered. So far as I can recall, I've never said anything negative to or about Hen, and yes I did publicly support the previous criticism and suspension of loCAtek, so it bothers me that Hen can't see how she's now contributing to further negativity.

*.....*.....*.....*.....*.....*.....*.....*.....*.....*.....
OTOH--and to get things back on track--I think Hen's first comment in this thread was sensible and wise:
The Hen wrote:

Let her know that there will always be people in her life that will focus on her sexuality, and not who she is as a person.

Let her know that some will even potentially be close to her.

She should ignore that focus and concentrate on what makes her happy as a person.

It will be hard. She potentially will get sick of the focus being on who she loves instead of who she is. Eventually that attention will drop and people will get back to judging her for who she is.
People who are wrong are just as sure they're right as people who are right. The only difference is, they're wrong.

Exactly, I didn't say I needed the input immediately, as RMD1 isn't experienceing any harassment at the moment, but that I would save it for future reference should bullying get to be a problem for her.

Let me refer you to my Guru, regarding anal input;

I didn't notice that your request for input was for the future should she need it in your opening post Lo.

Give her my best wishes.

"lesbo" "homo" ? :geek:

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Well Dales, those are the labels thrown out there. It may be what she has to deal with someday.

Sometimes it's just the tone of voice, or the piercing look as someone says it.

Just a vid providing a warning, hurt her a bit.

She's a great girl, I wanna be there should she need support, so those labels don't hurt, but empower. It's what she is. Her base will allow her to stand up to detractors. While for now, that I'm a part of her ID structure ...I just wanna do right by her.

...because, she's a great gal. More creative output- this poem, she wrote;

CHECK THE DATE

I had my green tea
And it tasted great.
It was greeny,
And teay,
And tasted wonderful

I was down to my last gulp
When I saw the date on it
I read April 12th
And I thought, ‘Right on time’
I looked again…
It was April 26th.

I closed my eyes,
And drank the last gulp
Something about the change of date
Made it taste horrible
It was sour
And icky
Now I’ll always remember
To check the date

I don't think trying to empower her by using slang terms that she finds upsetting and offensive is necessarily the right way to go. (Particularly if you aren't also a 'homo' or a 'lesbo' yourself.)

It would be akin to me playfully calling a friend's child a 'nigger', an 'abo' or a 'coon' in order to empower him if he is having problems with racist attitudes.

I would suggest you try equipping her to deal with such behaviours differently. Your way could end up causing a chasm between you in later years and reinforce stereotypes you did not mean too.

I agree and loCa should explain that thoase using those terms are ignorant and hateful people.
But there are times, among friends, where the terms might be used in a "friendly way". much like how blacks call each other ni%%^& when they are friends or know each other well

I know a lot of lesbians, and none of them would ever use a term like "lesbo" to refer to each other.

Must be a San Jose thing.

Or a NY/LI thing. ;)
The lady across the streets daughter is a lesbian. I have heard the daughter say, "I'm going out with my lesbo friends" (or something similar; queer, homo, etc) on more than one occasion.

My daughters date for her HS prom is gay (a fathers dream date for his daughter :D ) and comes to just about every occassion we have and my daughter and their mutual friends have used the "slang terms" when addressing him.

It suddenly dawned on me why female friends in high school would tell me that their parents, when critiquing their choice in dates, would ask them, "why couldn't you go out with a boy like Scooter?"
