After reading Gob & Sean's posts I can appreciate the shot much more.

In baseball it would be similar to a pitcher throwing a knuckle ball and the batter swinging before the ball even reached the plate.

You really have to understand the game to appreciate it.

Not a chance Dales, not a chance the world domination of soccer is inevitable.

But I can see why you are getting concerned.
NASHVILLE -- American soccer fans no doubt are in a fog today, wondering how their would-be men's Olympic team was vanquished by back-to-back failures against Canada and El Salvador.

For the sake of accuracy, yes, Monday night's squandered lead against El Salvador in the final seconds of stoppage time resulted in a tie. But in reality it was a devastating defeat, as was evident when virtually the entire U.S. Under-23 team sprawled on the pitch in disappointment after the final goal.

Facing a must-win situation, the U.S. blew what had seemed like a can't-lose proposition.

I'm sure it was a real nail-biter!

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I just saw that one on the evening news... an absolute belter!

Although I bet Jim could do it just as well... ;)
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Well, it would have been a little bit tougher since in the first one everybody was just standing around while the guy kicked the ball 15 feet in the air from a distance of 40 feet into a net the size of the broad side of a barn....

I could do that blindfolded....

Where as in this case some of the guys in short pants were rabbiting around and he had to hit the same broad side of a barn target at an angle from a good 45 feet...

But yeah, two times out of three I could probably have made it....

With an experienced goal keeper in the net Jim? I doubt that.

I could do it but unfortunately it is always going to be blocked in my country due to copyright reasons.

Oh well. Ronaldo may be worth the money but that dufus girl Torres at Chelsea certainly was not (despite putting two past the feeble QPR last weekend).

LJ you'd be about as good as Barcelona with a free run at the ball on the penalty spot

Speaking of value for money...

Have you heard about the new FA directive Gen'l? Any Liverpool player caught passing the ball to Andy Carroll will be automatically booked for time-wasting.
