I guess that video is good if you want to chop up a whole pineapple and eat it with something else, but we like it as a snack by itself and cut it in a way that is much simpler, (and also doesn't require using the whole pineapple up at once)
First, I chill the pineapple, (pineapple is really good cold...we like all of our fruit..except bananas... cold, and keep them all in the fridge) and then cut off the top and bottom...(BTW pineapple isn't that hard to cut...any reasonably sharp knife will do.)
Then lay the pineapple on it's side and cut slices like a roast...(whatever thickness you like, as many slices as you want...you can wrap up what you don't slice, stick it the fridge and have it another time...it keeps just fine for a few days)
Then take each slice and cut it into triangle shaped quarters...(you can chop off the fibrous bit at the end, but I usually leave it; it has flavor and it's good for you)
Then just pick up the slices and eat them till you get to the skin and throw away the skin...
Very simple....(this also produces ideal pineapple slices for Mai Tais...)

I was going to suggest something similar, slicing it with the skin on, but if you didn't want to serve it with the skin (for aesthetic reasons or whatever), just run a vegetable peeler or a paring knife around the edge to take it off.

A Pinoy friend of mine with relatives in Hawaii, would cut his pinapple similarly in the video but would leave the top cut of leaves for last, so he that had a handle to manipulate the fruit with. He would hold that stem; whack the bottom off; then the sides and lastly the top. I think it took him only 5 seconds.
I get angry when I see restaurant menus offering "Oyster's" or "Bread's"... what possessions of oysters could they possibly think I am interested in?
