Some people should be sterilized at birth

Post by Scooter »

They should have to wear shaved heads and diapers in prison:
FRIDLEY, MINN. — A mother and her boyfriend shaved the head of her 12-year-old daughter, then forced the girl to wear a diaper and run up and down outside their home near Minneapolis because she wasn’t doing well at school, police said.

Police arrested the 38-year-old woman and her 34-year-old boyfriend Monday night on suspicion of malicious punishment of a child, a gross misdemeanour. Lt. Mike Monsrud said the two adults laughed as they were hauled off in a squad car and apparently didn’t understand why officers had intervened.

A neighbour called police earlier that evening after a crowd of about 50 people gathered to watch the girl, who was wearing only the diaper and a tank top and was begging to be let back inside their townhouse in Fridley about 10 kilometres north of Minneapolis.

“When the officer found her, she was crying and hysterical,” Monsrud told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Investigators believe she had been outside for about half an hour before the neighbour alerted police, Monsrud said.

The mother and boyfriend were being held in the Anoka County Jail pending charges. The girl and three younger children were placed in foster care.

The Associated Press is not naming the adults to protect the identities of the children.

The two adults told police they were punishing the girl because she had bad grades and failed to do her homework.

“They told her if she didn’t, they would shave her head and put her on ‘diaper duty,’ which I guess meant running up and down the street and cleaning up trash as a form of public humiliation,” Monsrud said.

The lieutenant added that the couple questioned the police’s decision to intervene.

“Through the whole contact, and even on the way to jail, both were laughing and thinking it was ridiculous police would get involved in what they said was their parental decision,” he said.

Officers had responded to four calls in the past two years at the family’s townhouse. At least one of the calls triggered notification to a county child protection worker, Monsrud said.

I agree whole heartedly, Scooter.

Is it medically possible to sterilize a person at birth?

Just curious.

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Medically possible, sure, just like neutering a puppy.

Predicting which of them will grow up to become parents without having been issued a brain, however...

Meh.

Let's just sterilize them all and let the planet revert to the flora and non-human fauna.

Bad, yes, but there are, sadly, tens of thousands who do worse to their kids. As for forced sterilization, no thanks -- I think we're well beyond the days of Mengele and the Tuskegee experiments.

I'm one who probably should have kids, but won't, because I'm too busy trying to save the ones who are raped, burnt, beat, starved, drugged and prostituted by their 'parents'.

I know you're a self righteous new parent, cp, but you might have some awareness of the sicknesses of this world and sympathy for the frustrations of those of us who don't get to turn a blind eye and pretend it's not happening.

And remember; your precious child will have to function in the world with all these damaged folks - and for that matter, there are no guarantees that despite your best efforts he won't turn out to be a monster. There are plenty of psychopaths that come from reasonably functional backgrounds.

The depths of depravity of which the human animal is capable are not paralleled elsewhere in the animal world. I'll stand by my cynicism any day of the week, thanks very much.

While it is true that some people are capable of acts of extraordinary depravity, it is also true that there are others capable of extraordinary acts of kindness, heroism, and sacrifice for others....

And fortunately, there are on the whole, far more good people in the world than bad; were that not the case, civilization would not even be possible.

As a species we have a far wider range of behaviors than any other; it is part of what makes us unique....

And as a species we are far more complex than mere automatons that merely react to the way we are programmed based on genetics and our environments. Incredibly compassionate adults arise from the worst of circumstances, and incredibly depraved ones from the best. We always try to search for a cause (or causes) to blame for the behavior of a depraved individual, but I often think that is far more to make us feel "safe" ("my child would never do that because I never ...") than to really consider what fostered this behavior. It's frightening to think one can do all the right things and end up with the worst results, but that's the way things are.

Please advise how we will decide which babies should be sterilized.

Story seems fishy. Why would parents this goofy be concerned about their daughter's performance in school?

Also, there are no kilometers in Minnesota. Only miles, yards, feet and inches.

I already said figuring out which ones to sterilize would not be possible, rendering the idea impractible. It was a hyperbolic rant, Dave, was your sense of humour the first casualty of your lobotomy?

And distances are in kilometres because I read the story in a Canadian newspaper.

Mother accused of prostituting daughters

A child prostitution case has expanded to at least seven men who an Upland woman is suspected of allowing to have sex with her 14- and 7-year-old daughters, according to court documents.

Three men have been arrested.

Donald Grafe, a 37-year-old truck driver from Columbus, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of sexually assaulting the 14-year-old girl between March 24 and April 11 at a truck stop at 4800 W. O St. in Lincoln.

If convicted, he could get at least 15 years and possibly life in prison.

Troopers already had arrested Shad Chandler, 41, of Lincoln, and Alexander Rahe, 38, of Omaha, both for first-degree sexual assault of a child.

Grafe, Chandler and Rahe are three of at least seven men the 35-year-old mother is suspected of allowing to have sex with her 14-year-old daughter at least 20 times, according to court documents. Authorities believe she also let three unidentified men have sex with her 7-year-old daughter, and that she may have watched.

“This is a very disturbing case,” Col. David Sankey, superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol, said in a news release. "Our investigators working this case have nearly 30 years of experience and cannot recall a time where children so young were being sold into prostitution.”

Lancaster County Judge Mary Doyle on Tuesday set Grafe's bond at 10 percent of $75,000 and ordered him not to have contact with any children younger than 16. Prosecutor Matt Acton asked for a $250,000 bond. Grafe’s attorney, Bob Creager, said his client is a lifelong Nebraska resident and argued for a $40,000 bond.[d@mned shysters! :arg

Grafe made bail Tuesday; Chandler and Rahe were released Friday after posting $25,000 each.[very low bail amount, i would've made it closer to $100,000] :arg

Grafe's arrest and arraignment are the most recent developments in a case that started late last month when an unidentified informant tipped off a state trooper to nude photos of the girls allegedly texted to him by the Upland woman.

The patrol set up a sting, and the mother was arrested April 26 after she allegedly agreed to prostitute her older daughter for $200 to an undercover investigator in a Kearney motel.

She was charged with conspiring to commit sexual assault of a child and child pornography. She is in the Buffalo County Jail on a full $250,000 bond.

The Journal Star has chosen not to name the woman in order to protect the identity of her daughters.

Buffalo County Attorney Shawn Eatherton said he didn't know why a mother would put her daughters in such a position, but that any motive is irrelevant.

"It doesn't matter what the reason is when you're talking about these types of allegations," he said. “We’ve seen people make horrible decisions and commit horrible crimes for a variety of reasons. Trying to figure out why people do the things they do is a tough task.”

Lois Lee, president and founder of California-based Children of the Night, said the mother may have been trying to get money to buy drugs. Lee is not familiar with this particular case. The national nonprofit is dedicated to saving kids from prostitution.

Actually Dales, if it were up to me, I'd release the mother on her own recognizance, no bail...

Then I'd make her name, photo and whereabouts public knowledge and try to get the top 100 folks with the most followers on Twitter to tweet the personal information...

And oh yes, I'd post it on Youtube as well....

'one of you', Crackpot?

Whatever do you mean?

Have you suffered the unspeakable agony of having to give birth to a dead fetus whose healthy arrival at full term you anticipated with the greatest of joy? Have you lost your ability to reproduce through circumstances entirely out of your control? Do you daily suffer the indignity of serving the scum who abuse and neglect the children they breed like rabbits?

Arrogant and insulting much?

One of those who think it's so easy to be a good (read perfect) parent. hell you've ripped into me for daring to be of the opinion that it is ok to take young children to a family restaurant.
Arrogant and insulting much?

My post wasn't about perfect parenting CP. WTF?

I think I can safely assume, even having only birthed a dead baby, that I'd be a decent enough parent to not beat or prostitute my child.

But right, I'm a barren loser who doesn't deserve an opinion on parenting having never achieved the special status you have.

Go fuck yourself.
