All things related to the general running of the forum - got a suggestion? Here's where it should go.

If for no other reason that I don’t have Editec to beast all over the board here for my sadistic delights, so one of you wankers could cop it!
Actually Strop, it appears that there is a worthy candidate auditioning for the post:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=595&p=7765&hilit=farm+animals#p7765

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=628&p=6908&hilit=wingnuts#p6908

search.php?keywords=nothing&terms=all&a ... mit=Search

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=586&p=6230&hilit=republican#p6230

Yessir, if he keeps up with all these gratutitous, unprovoked, thinly veiled personal insults (he apparently figures he can get away with it by not mentioning anyone by name...so far it appears he's been right, since nobody has spoken up to criticize him for these obvious left-handed personal shots)

That there feller is crusin' for a brusin'.....

Seems to me that those who have expressed concern about the possibility of a decline in civility on this board, might want to direct some of those comments to that chappy....

Who as far as I can see is the only one here engaging in the sort of insulting, baiting, trollish behavior demonstrated by some of the comments in those linked posts.

He's going around the board, tossing out these toxic bon mots, in the obvious hope of igniting a pissing match....(that's pretty much the definition of trolling)

Somebody should call him on it.

Is the CSB FUBAR?

I can't access their webpage on my browser.

:?:

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

Dale, go back a couple of pages in this thread and you'll get the whole story. Also CP started another thread in this forum that explains it.

Oh brother...

Please go back and read those posts, look at the words and look at the context...

I know you like to make excuses for him, but sheesh....

Let me draw an analogy that might bring it home for you...

Suppose I put up a post, where I don't say that LoCa is an idiot....

But I say that any woman who would be a welder is an idiot....

Or women who live in San Jose are idiots....

As a follow up in a thread you started....

I wonder what you would "read" into that?

(No actually I don't wonder...I know...and you would be correct because my intent would be blatantly obvious, just as his is in this case.)

ETA:

Okay, let's all put on our thinking caps here and see if we can sort out this difficult puzzler:

Lord Jim starts a thread with the title:

This One's A Tough Call

And he replies (in the very next follow up post):
Only tough for the nutcase 'deport everybody' right-wingnuts.
Do we really need to call in Columbo to figure out what he was conveying here?

It doesn't seem to me that it requires a whole lot of smarts or even the slightest twinge of paranoia to see that his intention there is to say:

"Lord Jim is a 'deport everybody' right-wingnut"

It really ain't complicated....

I did. Don't flatter yourself. He's been dissin' Europeans, Christians (well, any religion), Disney, crappy musicians, Ozzies, older women, younger women and Barry Bonds, etc.

I do fit into some of those categories and I don’t take it personally. :nana

The fact of the matter is, in numerous posts all over this board, he has been making a deliberate effort to bait (me, Strop and Dale specifically) into a pissing match. (Presumably because he misses being pissed on...)

It's obvious to anyone familiar with his history. A five year old could see it.

All I'm saying is that it would be nice if when he posts something blatantly designed to ignite a pissing match, if some folks, (particularly those who have expressed a concern about the eruption of pissing matches) would call him on it. It would certainly reinforce the credibility of their concern.

It's difficult for me to take seriously expressions of concern about "civility" when no one is willing to address those concerns to the poster who is most conspicuously and flagrantly already breaching it.

What's the point of expressing concerns about something you're afraid "might" happen if you're not willing to address what "is" happening? It' would be really nice to see some expressions of disapproval of this behavior, in the threads where he engages in it. (If that were to happen, if history is any guide, he'd knock it off at least for a while)

I called him on it, once. I called someone else on it, when they seemed intent on re-igniting a CSB feud with him over here, again once.

Most of the examples you pointed out, I confess to not even having noticed, probably because when I see certain names at the top of a post box, my eyes tend to glaze over until I get to the next post.

There is also an ignore feature here, for those who care to use it.

That was pointed out to me this morning in a PM from a poster who is already using the ignore feature on him, Scooter....I wasn't aware that feature was installed here...

It's something to think about....

Lord knows I really wouldn't be missing much of value...

And frankly, I have to say that if his left-handed trolling is the worst problem we have over here, we're way better off then what was going on at the CSB...When it comes to trolling, compared to Steve, for example, he's a rank amateur....

I suppose his behavior stands out because it's so different from the way everyone else acts here...

Which is also a good thing....

Better one amateur level troll than a whole crew of pros.... :)

It's a friend and foe feature Jim. I have one individual as a foe and don't have to read word one of his crap except when someone quotes him.

It's nice.

That would be funny, dales.

They wouldn't know what hit them.

I still go to the Chat House once in a while to read what's going on but it is a lot like the CSB in some ways. They all seem so comfortable knowing and disliking each other that I feel like I'm walking uninvited into someone's party.
