His voice was superb even as late as Bat III (about 6 years ago). He has lost some ranger (he's 64), but still can sing!

Jarl--I'll agree, but what he really lost was that intensity he had in the late 70s. I saw him in a small venue right before he caught on, and that intensity blew me away; I never heard such raw passion poured out (even on ballds like For Crying Out Loud). Granted you can't sing like that forever, and tthere were rumors of him almost losing his voice, but IMHO he never quite matched what he did on his first album. Still a good singer (I've seen him in concert a number of times over years), but sadly (and probably understandably) not the same.
Not almost...he DID lose his voice! He puts plenty into his shows even now...he won't sing Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are in concert, because he starts to.cry in the second verse.

The voice loss was the story, but as I recall he was also sued by the record company alleging he faked it to get out of his contract. I don't recall the outcome of the suit, I think it might have been settled privately, but the fact is that his voice did change when he had his comeback. Whatever happened, it really is sad because he never wuite reached that same pinnacle again (at least for me). I've seen him in concert several times since (in the 80s and 90s), and while I enjoyed every performance, none of them ever matched the first time I saw him. And even with his diminished voice, no one can sing Steinman as well as him (except maybe Bonnie Tyler).

Please do! Whenever you're ready... :fu

Blur? Really?

And you had the unmitigated gall to question T.Rex's right to be in this thread? :loon :nana
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Blur/Manics/Radihead were/are a fine and intelligent pop/rock bands who wrote great anthems.

The lyrics to those songs above;
Creep
When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You're just like an angel
Your skin makes me cry

You float like a feather
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fucking special

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here

I don't care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here

She's running out the door
She's running
She run, run, run, run
Run

Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't belong here

Motorcycle emptiness

Culture sucks down words
Itemise loathing and feed yourself smiles
Organise your safe tribal war
Hurt maim kill and enslave the ghetto

Each day living out a lie
Life sold cheaply forever, ever, ever

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness
Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Life lies a slow suicide
Orthodox dreams and symbolic myths
From feudal serf to spender
This wonderful world of purchase power

Just like lungs sucking on air
Survivals natural as sorrow, sorrow, sorrow

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness
Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

All we want from you are the kicks you've given us
All we want from you are the kicks you've given us
All we want from you are the kicks you've given us
All we want from you are the kicks you've given us

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness
Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness

Drive away and it's the same
Everywhere death row, everyone's a victim
Your joys are counterfeit
This happiness corrupt political shit

Living life like a comatose
Ego loaded and swallow, swallow, swallow

Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness
Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness
Under neon loneliness motorcycle emptiness
Under neon loneliness everlasting nothingness

This is a low

And into the sea
Goes pretty England and me
Around the Bay of Biscay And back for tea

Hit traffic on the Dogger bank
Up the Thames to find a taxi rank
Sail on by with the tide and go to sleep
And the radio says

This is a low
But it won't hurt you
When you are alone
It will be there with you

On the Tyne forth and Cramity
There's a low in the high forties
And Saturday's locked away on the pier
Not fast enough dear

On the Malin head
Blackpool looks blue and red
And the queen, she's gone round the bend
Jumped off land's end

Radio says
This is a low
But it won't hurt you
When you are alone
It will be there with you
Finding ways to stay solo

This is a low
But it won't hurt you
When you are alone
It will be there with you
This is a low
But it won't hurt you
When you are alone
It will be there with you
Finding ways to stay solo

Not exactly an anthem, but since I was thinking about G Love anyway it is my sacred duty to spread his gospel far and wide (possibly my favorite G Love song, at least this week):

GAH!
