British Prime Minister David Cameron left his eight-year-old daughter at a pub after a mix-up with his wife, Samantha, according to a newspaper report.
The couple's daughter Nancy wandered off while they were arranging lifts. They realised she was not with them when they got home after a Sunday lunch, The Sun reported on Monday.
A Downing Street spokesman said the incident happened a "a couple of months ago".
Cameron drove back to the pub and found Nancy helping staff. She was away from her parents for about 15 minutes.
The spokesman said: "The prime minister and Samantha were distraught when they realised Nancy wasn't with them.
"Thankfully when they phoned the pub she was there safe and well.
The Camerons were at the Plough Inn - near the Prime Minister's country retreat, Chequers - with Nancy and their other children Arthur, 6, and 22-month-old Florence, as well as two other families.
When Cameron left the pub he went home in one car with his bodyguards and thought Nancy was with his wife and their other children in another car.
Mrs Cameron had assumed her eldest daughter was with her father.

Re: And we trust him to run a country?
I was wondering how until I saw they were in separate cars. At least they realized it as soon as they got home, unlike the parents we talked about who left their kid at Chuck E. Cheese and didn't realize it until the next day.

Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.
Re: And we trust him to run a country?
And see my comments at the time. No way parents sharing custody don't know which nights the kid was supposed to be sleeping at whose house.

Not in any way justifying actions (no one should have left without being sure other caretaker was around) but schedues get muddied very easily.

Re: And we trust him to run a country?
If the parents still have a good relationship, they live near each other and it's a weekend, it could very easily be the kid's choice to decide where they're going to spend the night. No way parents sharing custody don't know which nights the kid was supposed to be sleeping at whose house.
I know divorced people who have had this kind of a relationship regarding their kids. Not all divorced parents are at each others throats and have to have every detail of their shared custody spelled out and enforced to the letter.

Re: And we trust him to run a country?
It's not a question of being at each other's throats or not. It's about having a schedule and knowing where your kid is going to be sleeping. You're telling me that your friends let their kids decide where they are going to be staying without informing the other parent of where they are going to be?

15 minutes of PURE TERROR!
15 minutes before she was swept up into the bosom of her family and safety!
15 minutes when she could have been kidnapped by white slavers and shipped to a whore house in Shanghai!
Oy fucking vey. This is a real non-story.

Re: And we trust him to run a country?
Say what?A Cameron spokeswoman said, “The prime minister and Samantha were distraught when they realized Nancy wasn’t with them. Thankfully when they phoned the pub she was there safe and well.” She also said that no member of Cameron’s security team was determined to have made any mistakes during the incident.
This little girl was allowed to wander around in a public restaurant by herself, with apparently no security person detailed specifically to keep an eye on her...
The Prime Minister's party left the building with no security person responsible for making sure that all of the members of his family were accounted for....
And it was determined that no one on the security team had "made any mistakes" ?
They're kidding right?
If that happened with one of Obama's kids, heads would be rolling....
It would be seen as a major security blunder.....
If in fact this could happen with nobody on the security detail "making any mistakes" than there are some serious issues that need addressing regarding what are considered acceptable security procedures....
Kidnapping the Prime Minister of Great Britain's daughter would be a huge coup for any terrorist organization....think of all the ransom potential...it would create a major national crisis and even an international one, given the UK's prominent role in the WOT...
Cameron would have to resign of course, because he certainly couldn't be expected to handle the situation objectively...
It's amazing to me that as security conscious as the Brits have become (and rightly so) since 9/11 , that there doesn't appear to be any sort of public reaction to the security failure involved in this.

It has long been axiomatic that Mary and Joseph were the perfect parents.
And yet I recall they had a similar episode with Joe, Jr.
Worked out OK, as I recall, despite some short-term fretting and concern.

' I hope Cameron collects her soon. She's been droning on about the eurozone crisis for half an hour now.'

Re: And we trust him to run a country?
A double-glazing salesmen phones up a house and a small child answers in a whisper: "hello"
"Hello little girl; is your mummy there? Can I speak to her?"
"No, mister", the child whispers...
"is your daddy there? Can I speak to him?"
"No, mister"
"is there anyone else there? Can I speak to them?"
"There's a policeman, mister. But you can't speak to them"
"Anyone else?"
"There are some firemen. And my sister & brother. And some neighbours"
"Wow" What are they all doing there, little girl"
Kids whispers back.....
"Looking for me...."
