Top quality rant
“If you trust in yourself, and believe in your dreams, and follow your star. . . you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy.”

Hehe... "You scoundrels!"
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

I LOVED that!

Re: Top quality rant
While what he is saying is quite true, the other half of the picture is that it is the citizenry, wanting more and more Government goodies for which they hope someone else will pay, who elect the politicians who PROMISE to act in the way he decries.
The pity of it is, in countries like the U.S., we have the very real circumstance of HALF the population drawing most of the goodies and paying NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES WHATSOEVER, while the other half of the population pays the costs and interest on the debt while receiving only the most generic of Government's benefits (roads to drive on, national security, and so forth). Then when the PAYING half complains about the taxes they are being forced to pay to fund the extraordinary, unconstitutional goodies, they are hounded as being mean-spirited and hateful of the "less fortunate."
And politicians who speak honestly to the citizens about what government ought to do and what needs to be done to bring things into balance, are harrassed mercilessly by public-sector unions and a compliant Media. Anyone notice what happened in Wisconsin over the past 18 months? Anyone outside PA been paying attention to the hysterical criticism of our Governor Corbett, who is attempting to bring spending down to the level it was BEFORE the various Federal stimuli? You would think he was stealing food from the tables of the indigent.
"We" get exactly what we ask for from our politicians.

Because federal income tax is the only tax in the United States.dgs49 wrote:we have the very real circumstance of HALF the population drawing most of the goodies and paying NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES WHATSOEVER,

He's not talking about the USA.

The link is broken on my iGadget. Would someone post who/what it is so I can search in YouTube?

We make a lot more than $300,000/ yr, pay a significant amount in taxes, and get a fuckload more benefits than some poor slob making $40,000 / yr does. Only someone stupider than a turnip thinks that someone making $20,000 / yr (like 1/5th of US households) is getting anything in benefits to cause envy from people like myself.

In your case I see it as pretty much a coin toss....I think you are more mean and hostile than stupid, but its a close race.

Re: Top quality rant
Rube, Please elaborate on the benefits you get from "Government" that are over and above what are gotten by an "average" family with $50k in taxable income.
