Personally I'm a big fan of Nikki Haley's...

I've been very impressed with the poise and grace she's shown in the face of the smear machine that's been aimed at her...

It takes alot of character to stand up under that sort of onslaught, and I was very happy to see that it blew up in the faces of those behind it....

I think she's going to win easily, and will make an excellent Governor.

Fixed it 4 U.

SC Republicans may not have invented dirty campaigning, but they sure are working to perfect it.

Now you mind your manners Sue, or I may just have to start another John Edwards thread....

(though I think I'll wait for the indictment before I do that.... 8-) )

However, being the fair, balanced and unafraid sort of fellow I am, I will acknowledge that there are some very unsavory characters involved in GOP politics in South Carolina....

Going back to the smear job done on McCain in 2000.....

Back at home now. Too much Bad to go along with the good to make it a "good" vacation though I can't say it was altogether bad.
Day one: 12 hour drive down to SC
Day two: Went to the wife's brother's house and Met his two young children (last time I had seen them his wife was pregnant with the eldest) Shortly after we run into a fresh accident involving 3 cars a rollover a fire and multiple injuries. (though I must admit it was sort of neat to see my wife work as first responder) Dinner ice cream etc. etc..

Did I mention how hot and humid it was?

Day 3 Due to the aforementioned heat and humidity and it's effect on my wifes raging hormones (creating a rather severe heat rash in a rather delicate area) we decide to lay low for the day while we wait for her her OB Gyn to send a prescription. Things go rather nice do some things locally (considering we're not in a extremely touristy area) have a good dinner and go to the local Wallgreens to pick up the prescription.
This is where things go all to hell.

We park in the lot and due to my lack of tolerance for humidity i make a beeline For the door of the air conditioned Pharmacy. I'm halfway to the door when I hear my wife call out to me "we need to go back to the hotel.I go back to her to ask whats wrong. "I'm bleeding" she says. And sure enough the crotch of her shorts is red.

Doing my best to keep calm I drive her back to the hotel drop her off at the entrance while I park the car. Figuring that she's on the elevator I run up the stairs. I get to the room open the door and she's already in the bathroom.

I ask if she's ok she says "yes" and "give me a minute" which leaves me to pace about the room till I get the all clear.

She informs me that it was just blood and she's heard of this happening before. I say Shouldn't you go to the hospital anyway? she says yes. I call the desk and ask where the nearest Hospital is I get the directions and off we go. After a seeming eternity we get to the hospital Only to find the ER is on the exact opposite side of the hospital. Drop her off Park the car and get inside Just as she's been ushered into triage waiting. I catch up with her and we're rushed into triage and she was promptly shuttled off to labor and delivery. I say she because I'm told I have to drive my car back around the hospital to the parking garage and told to meet her there. Have I ever mentioned how confusing I find hospitals? I find her quickly (with help of the triage nurse that I luckly happen upon) Long story short the baby is fine and they attribute it to "spotting" (a little much to be called a spot if you ask me) the OB GYN recommends she rest keep cool head home and make an appointment with her/our OB Gyn ASAP. she writes a prescription for her rash (since it's too late at night to pick up the script from where it was sent and they gave us directions to a 24 hour pharmacist.

Day 4 We decide to stay down one more day so we can see her brother once more before we go so we spent most of the day relaxing till it was almost time for her brother to get home got some Pizzas and headed over to their house and had an all around pleasant evening.

Day 5 12 hour trip back. Wife sees OB tomorrow.
Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

I'm very happy to hear that all is well with mom and baby....

But like I told you CP...when you told us the baby is due in January....

The missus is not going to be in the mood to have a very merry Christmas.... 8-)

I was lucky; both of my kids are "summer babies" (Tati was born on The Fourth Of July....she'll be 11 this weekend...since getting a big group of people together on the 4th is always problematic, we're going to have her "big" party on Saturday, and just a small family thing on Sunday) and Jimmy will have his first birthday on August 16th....

But I can tell you that the last month of pregnancy ain't beer and skittles for the father..... :D

Hot and humid? In a subtropical zone, during the height of summer? You don't say?

According to the locals it was hotter than usual. We were in the NW corner in the foothills.

I am relieved to hear your sudden departure was unrelated to local politicians and/or farm animals.

As for the heavy spotting, same thing happened with my eldest daughter at about 18 weeks; but she turned out beautifully, if I do say so myself. Best wishes to you and Mrs. Pot for an uneventful pregnancy from here on out.
