Joe Guy posted:
It was reported that Holmes bought over 6000 rounds of ammo over the internet. Apparently he bought the firearms locally but in some states you can buy guns on the internet also.
Firearms purchases thru the mails fall under Federal Law.

See the Gun Control Act of 1968 for more info.

One must have their online firearms purchase shipped to a FFL dealer (ie: gun store) and the transaction fulfilling all state and local laws is completed there.

True, ammo purchases can be made over the web.

Look for a run on Joker costumes soon.

Not that it matters here but black powder guns don't require an FFL.

however obtaining a federal firearms licence is not all that difficult as long as you have no criminal record. Then you can sell from your home or even on line with out ever physically being in contact with the weapons. And you can sell all kinds of nasty automatic shit.
I expect to go straight to hell...........at least I won't have to spend time making new friends.

The Welsh father of a teenager praised by President Obama for saving her friend's life in the Colorado cinema shootings has told of his pride in her.

Malcolm Davies spoke after President Obama congratulated Stephanie Davies, 19, for her actions in looking after her friend Allie Young.

Mr Davies, originally from Ceredigion, said: "I am so proud and thankful that she wasn't hurt."

Ms Davies saved her friend by pulling her to the ground and staying with her after she was shot in the neck.

She applied pressure to the wound until she could get her friend out of the theatre.

The US President spoke after joining Ms Davies at Ms Young's hospital bedside, where he was pictured hugging her.

"Because of Stephanie's timely actions, I just had a conversation with Allie downstairs, and she is going to be fine," said Mr Obama.

"I don't know how many people at any age would have the presence of mind that Stephanie did or the courage that Allie showed."

Mr Davies, who moved to the US in 1989 from Cilcennin, described how proud he was of his daughter.

"I am amazed she managed to be so mindful of helping her friend," he said.

Meanwhile, Swansea City will observe a minute's silence for those who died in the shooting before the first friendly game on their pre-season tour of America against Colorado Rapids at 02:00 BST on Wednesday.

The match will take place at a stadium a little over 10 miles from Aurora.

The survival of a woman shot in the head during the Colorado cinema massacre has been hailed as a miracle after a shotgun pellet traversed the precise course of a brain defect she was unaware she had.

Image

Her remarkable story came as another woman who survived the mass shooting on Friday gave birth in the same hospital where her critically injured husband is in a medically induced coma.

According to her family Petra Anderson, 22, a musician, lived because she had a rare genetic condition that left her with a small channel of fluid running from the front to back of her brain.

When she was shot in the face the projectile followed the exact course of the defect, avoiding vital areas and lodging in the rear of her head. Doctors removed it after five hours of surgery.

Her sister Chloe Anderson, 25, said: "It entered right through her nose. It went all the way through her brain and to the back of her skull. It did little damage which is a mystery to many people, including the doctors."

Miss Anderson, a violinist, had recently graduated from the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific in California, and is due to start a master's degree in Maryland. She had gone to the cinema with two friends to see the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises and was among the victims when a gunman dressed in body armour began spraying the audience with bullets.

You can buy them online.

A little slow to load, but just as lethal.

Amid all the horror and sadness, numerous stories of heroism and selflessness...

Once again we see the full range of human potential on display....

From the utter depravity of the shooter, to the instinctive goodness of those who tried to shield friends and loved ones with their own bodies....

I would prefer the media focus on the survivors and their stories, rather than the waste of skin behind the guns. The heroic actions of those in the theatre are actually worthy of coverage.
Personally, I don’t believe in bros before hoes, or hoes before bros. There needs to be a balance. A homie-hoe-stasis, if you will.

Stuff you couldn't make up...
The number of people seeking to buy guns in Colorado has soared since last week's mass shooting in the US state's town of Aurora, say law officials.

In the three days after the shooting, applications for the background checks needed to buy a gun legally were up 43% on the previous week.

On Friday, 29 July, the day following the shooting, the number was 1,216, and on the Saturday, 1,243. In total, 2,887 people were approved to buy a gun over the weekend, an increase of 43.5% on the weekend before, said the bureau.

The bureau's figures cannot confirm how many people then bought a firearm, but gun shop owners also reported a rise in sales.

Dick Rutan, owner of Gunners Den in the Colorado town of Arvada, said sales were "off the hook".

"What they're saying is, 'they want to have a chance'," he told the Denver Post. "They want to have the ability to protect themselves and their families if they are in a situation like what happened in the movie theatre."

An employee at Mr Baker's shop, Jake Meyers, said there had been up to 20 people waiting outside when he arrived at work on the day after the shooting.

"A lot of it is people saying, 'I didn't think I needed a gun, but now I do'," the Denver Post quoted him as saying. "When it happens in your backyard, people start reassessing, 'Hey, I go to the movies'."

Brandon Baker, who owns the Rocky Mountain Guns & Ammo in the town of Park, only 15 miles (24km) from Aurora said his sales had gone up, as had requests for firearms training.

The Associated Press news agency said sales were also up in other states, including Florida, which recorded a 14% rise from the previous week, and Oregon, where July's sales were up by 11% over June. Background checks in the days after the shooting were up 10% in Florida compared with the same period last month.

Law officials said gun sales had risen after previous significant events, including the election of President Barack Obama and the shooting in Arizona which killed six people and injured Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in January 2011.

This is often attributed to fears that a mass killing could prompt the government to reconsider the Second Amendment to the US constitution, which gives people the right to bear arms.

A small group of Democratic lawmakers in Washington renewed calls on Tuesday to ban high-capacity gun magazines. But there is little expectation that gun control will be addressed by politicians in the run-up to November's presidential election.
So the next time anyone does a noisy fart in a cinema showing Batman, expect a firestorm of uncoordinated gunfire to break out....

Just in Colorado?

San Jose theater evacuated during Batman screening
The Associated Press

SAN JOSE, Calif.—San Jose police say a movie theater was evacuated when someone threw a suspicious package into a screening of the new Batman film.

The San Jose Mercury News ( http://bit.ly/MWJMip) reports dozens of moviegoers watching the "Dark Knight Rises" fled the Eastridge Mall AMC theater Monday night.

Officials say witnesses told police that someone opened the theater door, yelled an expletive and tossed a box into the center aisle, saying it was a bomb.

Police say about 150 people watching other movies were also evacuated from the building.

Authorities summoned a bomb squad, which determined the box was harmless. Police haven't identified a suspect and an investigation is ongoing.

The incident happened just days after a gunman opened fire in a Colorado movie theater, killing 12 and injuring dozens of others.

And now the first lawsuit is rolling in claiming that the theater didn't adequately protect the audience from a random crazy asshole.

Hans Zimmer has created a musical composition, "Aurora", with 100% of the money from sales being donated to victims of the shooting.

Warner Bros. is also donating an undisclosed amount to charities to help the victims.

That's nice to see, Grim.... :ok

And on the flipside of the range of human behavior....

I've been wondering how long it will be before this piece of what-the-files-who-eat-shit-shit starts getting love letters and marriage proposals....

It wouldn't surprise me a bit to learn that it's already happened....
