She got upset at Lord Jim and then disappeared.

BSG will be back eventually. Once in a while she needs time to detox from the evil atmosphere that permeates this place.

As someone who likes her I think it would be better for her if she never came back. This place will never improve, or even change significantly. The loss of GrossDad and AndyH was the tolling of the bell. The valuable posters who remain are drowning in a sea of meaningless shit.

There are communities of people who are supportive, interesting, accomplished, and intelligent. She would be better off finding one of those. Coming back here will not improve her life.

I wish her well, and well away from here.

The joy in having my opinion of your weak personality reinforced by your every post just makes staying irresistible.

But really. I'm not as sensitive as she is. LJ is shit. I don't care what shit says. So no pain.

Surprisingly, I have found this Board less toxic than usual recently.

Cheers Lo.

LJ is shit.
Rube, you have no idea how it gladdens my heart to know that you have a low opinion of me....

(And I really can't blame you; given the number of times I've shown you up for the know-nothing gas bag that you are)

It's when dolts like you say nice things about me that I get worried.... :?
The loss of GrossDad and AndyH was the tolling of the bell.
Whenever anyone begins to develop the attitude that they should have the right to toss out insults at will and expect not a cross word in return, they are in the wrong place....

If you think that there is one standard of behavior for how you should be allowed to treat people, and another for what is acceptable treatment towards you, then hanging around here is going to make you bitterly disappointed.
She'll be welcomed back by one and all er all but one?, when she returns.
I don't have any particular gripe with BSG, except for the fact that a couple of months ago she began a pattern of gratuitously lashing out at me and then playing the victim when I responded to her condescending sneers and insults, and I finally got fed up with it.

(This may not have been noticeable to everyone, because after I took her to task over it the first time back in May, I never carried it over to additional threads, and I tried to ignore most of it in the hopes that she would work out her issues and that the behavior would cease as suddenly as it began. But she just kept doing it, over and over, until, as I said, I just got fed up.)

I will say that I thought her attempt to blackmail the board with a threat to leave if she didn't think she had enough people rushing in to support her mythological view of what transpired was so juvenile that she should have been embarrassed by having done it. (Almost as embarrassing as that crude attempt to bully me into silence with an intelligence insulting threat to take legal action.)

I hope that in the time she is away that she takes a little personal inventory (I fear this may not be possible, since so much of what she has posted indicates that she is in complete denial about her behavior; given that, an honest self examination may simply not be psychologically possible) and if she returns, decides against starting fights.

And if she comes back and does decide to pick up again with gratuitous unprovoked insults, I hope she will at least have lost the conceit that somehow she is entitled to engage in that behavior without response.

If she hasn't, I suggest that she pick a target who is more tolerant of that sort of crap than I am.

Oh no no no no no.....

I for one certainly do not want rube to "fuck off"....

He serves two very valuable purposes here....

First, by being a nearly perfect example in every way of the sort of person one should want at all costs to avoid becoming, he provides a constant stream of reminders of what sort of behavior to avoid, and what it looks like when it's not avoided.

(I swear it's as though the boy wrote up a checklist of every single negative and/or obnoxious characteristic a human being could possibly incorporate into their personality and behavior, and he's using the list to make sure he doesn't leave anything out..."intellectually dishonest...check....brag about money that your wife makes...check.....insult people without provocation...check....be sneaky...check....be a bigot...check" and so on and so on.....)

Second, rube is great for the self-esteem of other posters. No matter how little you may know about a topic, and how reluctant you may therefore be to get into a discussion about it, with rube here, you always know that there's somebody else here who A) knows even less about the topic than you do, and B) isn't the slightest bit self conscious about letting everybody else know just how little he knows....

To draw an analogy, rube is like the 350 pound 5' 9'' guy who shows up at the beach shirtless, in a pair of fluorescent speedos, totally oblivious to how he looks....

He makes all the middle-aged guys sitting there who don't want to take their shirts off because they've gotten a little paunchy, feel alot better about themselves...

In my case, rube really builds up my self esteem about how much I know about religious matters. When Gen'l Meade and Big RR are going at it on the topic, I feel completely outclassed; I'd be embarrassed to put in my two cents with my limited knowledge on the subject compared to them. But then rube chimes in, with one of his patented displays of eye-popping ignorance, and suddenly I feel like St. Thomas Aquinas....

I'd vote for HomersRevenge...
Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?
