The Queen Speaks At The UN...

Post by Lord Jim »

For the first time since 1957....

She's speaking now...

A couple of observations...

First, that hat....

I'm going to have nightmares about that hat....

It's not just hideous....it is bizarrely, frighteningly hideous....

And this really cracked me up. The camera just panned the US delegation, and two of the members sitting at the table....

Were wearing translation headsets.... :!: :shrug

There are probably few people on the planet who enunciate the English language more clearly and precisely than Her Majesty....

Do we now have non-English speakers on our UN Delegation? :D

You mean we have soccer fans on our UN delegation, Kristina?

That's even worse.... :o

If Obama's been appointing soccer fans to the US UN Delegation, no wonder so many people think he's a damn furiner.... ;)

I seriously think that the best thing they did for the royal blood was pick a breeder like Diana. Got some height and decent looks into the bloodline. Too bad they didn't acquire her fashion sense. :barf

Yea, but I hear her son is a little too generous with the crown family jewels.

Gee Sue, you must have been thrilled when you saw Red Coats marching across the White House lawn as part of the welcoming ceremony for Her Majesty back in 2007....

Image

I believe the last time that happened, was back in 1814....

As I recall, it didn't go too well.... :P

The redcoats did manage to ignite quite a storm in Washington as I recall. :bollocks:

As Brenda herself would put it "There is no such thing as 'American English'. There is one's English and there are mistakes."

She does have crap taste in hats though!

That's the only hat she should ever wear in my opinion....(Though she does have a nice little tiara that she wears at formal evening occasions that doesn't look bad.)

I learned a couple of things from her speech that I wasn't aware of...

She is actually the Queen of 16 countries....and the Commonwealth, (which she heads) has 64 member states....

That's something like one third of all the countries on the planet....I didn't realize it was that large...

I like to joke around about Liz Windsor, but I'm actually a very big fan and admirer of the Queen. She's quite a survivor and has endured much throughout her life time.

From her wartime service, (I thought it was appalling that the French failed to invite her to the big D Day celebration last year; the one and only head of state who is actually a veteran of that war.) and through the many years of her Reign she has stood out as a great symbol and representative for her country.

She is a woman of uncommon graciousness and many fine qualities. She has always maintained a quiet, self possessed personal dignity despite all the embarrassing antics that she endured at various times over the years from her sister, her husband, (a really racist old bastard with some truly kooky ideas) her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. Her own personal behavior has never been anything other than exemplary; she has never brought the slightest bit of embarrassment or scandal to the monarchy. A truly class act who will be much missed when she eventually passes from the scene, and is replaced by her whiny loser son....

Why is it that when Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a hammer it's 'art' and 'edgy' but when I do it I'm 'drunk' and 'banned from the hardware store'?

Jim, it's all down hill for the house or Windsor when she pegs it and Chazza takes over then..
