killing cougar?

Post by liberty »

Disband California and revoke their statehood; they need adult leadership obviously they are not capable of ruling themselves. Not that the federal government is that much better.

..California official replaced after killing cougar
By TRACIE CONE | Associated Press – 20 hrs ago....
Mon, Aug 6, 2012...See latest photos »....FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — The California Fish and Game Commission removed its president on Wednesday, months after he was criticized for killing a mountain lion in Idaho.

Real estate developer Dan Richards was stripped of his leadership role with little discussion during a meeting in Ventura.

Richards said his morning began ominously when he was listening to Nickelback during his workout and heard the song, "If Today Was Your Last Day."

"I was fully aware today would be my last day as the president, but it's not my last day on God's green earth," Richards said after the unanimous vote to replace him with member Jim Kellogg.

Richards, who was appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008, has said he plans to remain on the five-member commission until his term expires in six months.

Conservationists clamored for his ouster after photos surfaced earlier this year of him holding the slain mountain lion.

Hunting mountain lions is banned in California, though it's legal in Idaho and other states.

"Californians have twice voted in a resounding fashion to protect mountain lions in our state, and his flagrant flaunting of his disagreement with the electorate put him out of sync with California," said Jennifer Fearing, state director of the Humane Society of the United States. "We're glad to see the commission take action."

Critics, including animal welfare groups, said the commission chief should uphold the values of the state he represents. Hunting groups defended Richards.

Richards also came under fire for accepting the $7,000 hunting trip without paying any of the cost. He repaid the hunting lodge after an ethics complaint was filed.

In the wake of the controversy, the commission changed rules that give the presidency to the most senior member of the commission and instead chose to have the president selected by majority vote.

He told the San Jose Mercury News (http://bit.ly/MwkOvF) during a recent interview that he broke no wildlife laws.

"There's no chance I did anything wrong," Richards said. "I did everything by the book."

Lib, I don't know what's going on, but again your post is showing up for me with the right hand side of the words cutting off . This is the second time this has happened and your posts are the only ones I'm having this problem with.

Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

It's funny, when I copy and paste it, it all shows up:

Jim-lib's post shows up ok, must be a issue with your monitor?

Your collective inability to acknowledge this obvious truth makes you all look like fools.

I don’t know, it looks good on my machine. I don’t know if it is significant but I did find and deal with a Trojan horse a while back.

It may be that your browser doesn't compensate for the dotted line that liberty put in his post. It looks fine for me in Safari on my Mac and Firefox on my Windoze laptop (in prosilver).

As for the subject of this thread, given that Richards is the president of California Fish & Game Commission, what he did was politically stupid even though it was legal where he did it.

I'm not going to argue about the idea of going out and killing animals for sport. That's like arguing abortion and will go nowhere.

Okay... There's all kinds of things wrong with what you just said.

As an experiment I switched to the 'Absolution' board style and I saw the same problem Jim & Keld are experiencing. liberty's posts are cut off on the right side of the monitor.

Absolution has always caused problems for me, that's why I need to use Prosilver.

Unless something better is offered, Prosilver is the only one I can use without experiencing those kinds of problems.

Interesting, because I can see the whole post in Absolution, but I have a wide monitor and I size my browser window to almost its full width, so that might compensate for any problems.

That's it for sure.

I've always suspected that Jim has a very small monitor.

If killing other predator is immoral then the existence of the human is immoral. It was our ability to kill other competitor species that that promoted our rise as the dominate species on the planet. And without warm bear, wolf and assorted feline skins to wear the honkey and Chineseoid might not have survived the ice age. To some self-loathing liberals that might not have been such a bad thing, at least as far as the honkyoid is concerned.
