KK2

Post by @meric@nwom@n »

Went to see it. Powerful waste of Jackie Chan. Smith jr. was ok, but the thing that really got me was the drunk that was doing the filming. It made me seasick. Anyone else see the movie and notice the bad camera handling?

You know, I only recently saw the KK1, just last year ...and I took the tape out wondering what all the fuss was about? To me, the only really good scene in the movie was Mr. Miyagi mourning his family. The rest of it seemed pretty formulated.

Haven't seen KK2, did Chan manage to pull off a Japanese accent?

¿Qué what!? They drop the whole sub-content of Japanese-American bravery in the face of cultural abuse? Then what's the point of calling it 'Karate Kid', for fork's sake?

KK1 was one of my favorite movies as a youth - I watched it more times than I can count.

I heard Chan was good in the remake, but I can't bring myself to watch it, nonetheless. I generally avoid remakes and sequels like the plague.

Chan is ill used in KK2. He is a very funny and warm man but that is not used.

Take something for motion sickness if you watch it eventually.

I can only assume then, Chan is staying in the background because this a vehicle to launch his son's career.

I won't be seeing it, it's a fucking farce from the reviews and clips I've seen. Just a vehicle for Smith to get his son on the screen (again.)

And to call it "Karate Kid" when it's set in China, with the mandatory positive black character, and has none of the originality of the Macchio version, is a gross insult all around.
